Had to try it

Saw it on the Travel Channel, and since we were so close decided to try it... My simple opinion, nothing special. The chicken gizzards were cooked so long they were hard as a rock, tons of breading, mostly tasteless. I had the shrimp chervis, it was pretty good. The "house specialty" oysters... read more

This is a dive bar seafood joint. If you want great food in a casual joint this place is for you, especially if you like oysters. We had the oysters gilhooleys, shrimp gilhooleys and shrimp picante oysters. The raw oysters were fresh and good. Fried shrimp, oysters and chicken gizzards were great, as were the Boudian balls, mushrooms and hush... More

This is a VERY CASUAL restaurant.... We turned around at the front door because it was soooo smokey inside.... We opted to sit on the patio, even though it was cool outside. We only ordered appetizers but the shrimp quesadillas, fried gizzards, and ceviche were all very tasty. Food at other tables looked and smelled delicious!

I have always been a fan of dive bars - non-pretentious. When we are in this area, we go to this place. Previous visits, we have had the gizzards, boudin balls, po-boys, and of course the grilled oysters. I agree with the people on this site saying the oysters are not cheap, but oh so good! If you want to... More

This place isn't much more than a beach shack that has been added on to and expanded bit by bit. Very rustic atmosphere, very casual, and very Texas. Cash Only! No draft beer, just bottles and cans. This all being said, this is the place to get raw oysters. Well known by locals as the place to go, the prices... More

Service was good, food was mostly great ... It's a super lunch spot! The 3 of us had seafood gumbo, oyster stew, and Oysters Gilhooley. One had an appetizer plate of chicken gizzards which was piled high and freshly cooked. Yum! The oyster were terrific, as was the seafood gumbo. I liked the oyster stew but it really was an... More

We had a large group and we had excellent service. Beer was ice cold and food was really good. We love the vibe of the place....cool "hole-in-the wall" place...we will definitely be back!

Some of the best oysters I have ever had! We heard about this place on Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre Foods America show, (not sure why this was on there) in which he said the food was amazing, so we decided to try it. The grilled oysters are the best, you have to try those if you go there. They also serve... More
