A friend and I were hungry for seafood. She had heard of Gilhooley's and we decided to go check it out. The atmosphere was amazing, and the food was super amazing! We will be going back, and soon!

GREAT oysters raw & try the Oysters Gilhooley. BYOB and very cold beer. The oysters here are the sweetest you have ever tasted. The shrip is awesome too.

We read about this place when we were planning our road trip and decided it was worth the extra miles to try it. We loved it. My husband had the charbroiled oysters and I had the shrimp. Ummmm loved the food. Atmosphere is amusing and entertaining. No kids and cash only. If you are looking for fancy don't go. Our... More

I tried a half dozen oysters on the half shell first. Firm, salty and nice flavor. Cleansed the palate with a cold long neck and waited for the Oysters Gilhooley. The oysters, cheese and butter combined with the wood roasting created a fantastic taste. Add the friendly service and the unique atmosphere and the place hit the top of my... More

Great food, cold beer, great service, indoor or outdoor dining, no kids allowed, cash only. Everything you could want in a quirky, coastal oyster bar. Will make this a must stop meal any time I am anywhere near Houston/Galveston.

We have been going to Gilhooley's for a long time. Food is good no doubt. When we started going a doz grilled oysters were $10. This was prob 7-8 yrs ago. They were $19 about 2-3 months ago. A doz grilled oysters are $22.50 now. At Tommy's On Bay Area, where the restaurant is nice, clean, and there is ambience..... More

Went for date night and the food was great. We had the gumbo, fried shrimp and grilled oysters. Can't say enough about how great the food was. This is definitely a locals bar but don't let that scare you off. They have an outside patio area and inside there are a handful of tables tucked away that are perfect for... More

The place is definitely not for the 'fancy pants' of this world,,,cause it's a dive and very rustic! Reminds me of some 'honky tonk' place in the far outreaches of the hill country. Must admit I was a little apprehensive the first time there but it all comes together once you try their food...Fantastic! Definitely known for their oysters but... More
