Went for date night and the food was great. We had the gumbo, fried shrimp and grilled oysters. Can't say enough about how great the food was. This is definitely a locals bar but don't let that scare you off. They have an outside patio area and inside there are a handful of tables tucked away that are perfect for... More

My husband and I (as well as Tom, our brother-in-law), went to Gilhooleys. We loved it. The atmosphere was great. . NO KIDS. We drank, ate and laughed a lot. Great experience. Would highly recommend Gilhooleys for great food and a great time.

Live 5 minutes away, great food, great price, great service. Visit several times a month. Great place to relax and have a beer with friends.

The place is definitely not for the 'fancy pants' of this world,,,cause it's a dive and very rustic! Reminds me of some 'honky tonk' place in the far outreaches of the hill country. Must admit I was a little apprehensive the first time there but it all comes together once you try their food...Fantastic! Definitely known for their oysters but... More

What a fantastic place to go for oysters. A rustic laid back atmosphere with great food. Reminded me of what oyster bars used to be like. The seating inside is mostly for smokers, so be prepared to sit under the trees on the patio and enjoy local fare. The had a couple of different oyster dishes and stuffed shrimp. All... More

This is a place that caters to the locals, but tourists are definitely welcome too. The oysters on the half shell are the best ever. Every thing else on the menu is great too. It is very rustic and full of local color. Service was great and we had a great time. This place is great for lunch, dinner, or... More

Maybe the place NEEDS heavy duty cleaning. The aroma knocks your feet from under you on entry. Fried food is fair but wouldn't want to try any other cooking method.

If you like oysters, this is the place. Fresh and delicious. Oysters currently have a 50% markup from the menu prices because of a supply issue. We ordered oysters and garlic bread. So good. Very casual atmosphere. This is a cash only establishment and signs everywhere that they don't allow minors.

It is actually a really good restaurant/bar, even if the place is pretty divey and off the beaten path. We stopped in because we were in the neighborhood and shared some platters. We had the fried shrimp appetizer, an order of hush puppies and the Oysters Gilhooley's. The oysters are an experience not to be missed. They are floated in... More

This neighborhood restaurant is really great. Went for the chargrilled oysters and added the fried shrimp dinner plate. Everything was excellent but most of all --- NO CHILDREN ALLOWED!! What a pleasure to dine somewhere that doesn't include parents enjoying cocktails while the children run through the restaurant or under your table. Food is reasonable and eating outside under the...
