Lunch at Packsaddles lived up to its Reputation!

While visiting Texas, one can not have enough BBQ or Brisket! Under strong local recommendation, Packsaddle is one of those local-hide-away sweet spots for the ambitious pallet-seeker! Great chopped brisket and ribs! Friendly, down home service to a weary traveler!

I had a combo plate with sliced brisket and a beef rib. Brisket was a mix. Pretty good but a couple of slices were dryer than I prefer but the beef rib was very good.

While doing the tourist thing in the beautiful town of San Angelo, Texas, my friend and I stopped at a small (known as a "hole in the wall") place called the Packsaddle. Best choice we ever made! When we first walked in, the quirky interior really catches your eye, and the heavely aroma filling the dining area lets you know... More

BBQ is about consistency, tenderness, and flavor, Period. I have eaten here hundreds of times. I just traveled across the south on my Harley through BBQ Heaven. Through New Orleans across Mississippi down to Key West I did not find any BBQ as good as right here in my own home town of San Anglo. I headed straight here the... More

Packsaddle is a little out of the way from the mainstream of San Angelo restaurants, but for good BBQ in a nice casual and non-assuming atmosphere, it is worth the trip. The place is small, but has a unique charm, between deer heads and what appears to be over a hundred in-the-carton to racing cars along with other racing paraphernalia.... More

I have attended several events where they catered and it was excellent as always. I thought I hated cobbler and homemade vanilla ice cream until I had it here. If company shows up suddenly, I can call a carryout order and it is ready in ten minutes and always fresh. You can buy one item in bulk as well.

I very much enjoy this place. If you're hoity-toity, don't bother- the atmosphere is friendly but the place is no-nonsense, no-frills, and run down (which is part of the charm I think). The food is always consistent. Love the brisket and the catfish! The meat is smoked and the sauce is on the table, so don't expect "BBQ" to mean... More

Had the special for lunch.Food was not worth the money spent. Their onion rings were not seasoned, onion was old and still had the membranes on it. Place was filthy, air vents very dusty, and toy cars on wall covered with a film of crap. Service was poor even had a cook standing in the front watching tv? servers chatting... More
