Ok, not the best

Cowboys looks like it's gonna be a hit. Big stack of wood outside, smokehouse in back, I'm ready. Walk in, it's a lil worn around the edges in a good way and very clean. Fiberboard wall, nothing fancy. I got the brisket and sausage as did everyone in my party. Brisket was moist but no flavor... read more

I have driven by Cowboy's umpteen times on my way up and down I35. I finally decided to stop in and try it. The woman at the cutting board cut the moist brisket JUST the way I asked her to (from the end and no trimming). That is very rare. Most time the just cut whatever they usually do. Ugh... More

These are some of the best Ribs I have eaten in a long time. When we were there it was quiet and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The help did not keep coming to our table and interrupting; when we needed something we went to the counter and they were there in seconds...........it was great. The sides... More

I visited with family. I have been once before a several years ago & the burger was pretty good. This time we ordered a New York strip, rib/ sauage plate & Bbq chicken plate & sides. The steak, chicken, ribs, & sides had NO FLAVOR. It was not seasoned AT ALL! The service was not good either. Our food came... More

I recently dined at this restaurant while traveling to Ft Worth. The Restaurant was like a 'mom and pop' establishment. There is an excellent choice of BBQ Options. You order at the counter and they slice your order in front of you. There are a variety of sides located in the Dining area in a buffet like container. There were... More

This little place has some of the best tasting Brisquit I have had in Texas. They are not afraid to give you a serving with a little fat on it, which is marvelous. The sauce is spicy. This may have been a from another issue, but they closed the place down before 8pm on a Friday???? Do call ahead.

Stopped into Cowboys one day when I didn't want to wait in line at the other BBQ restaurant in town and was pleasantly surprised. The nice thing about Cowboys is the fact that you can get in and out extremely quickly. It is fed to you cafeteria style so from time through the door to time with your food is... More

7 April 2014 - around 6PM My wife and I were coming back to Austin from Waco. We stopped in at Cowboy's BBQ in Salado (right of IH 35 South). It is not very impressive from the outside and is clean and simple on the inside. We purchased some jalapeno sausage and some "home made" jerky. The sausage was really,... More

Friends had pre wedding party dinner here and the the food was not inpressive, it was about the only place to eat.I expected a great Texas barbque that I have seen on TV and the cooking shows and was disapointed in quality of the food. I know it is hard to prepare food for a small gathering but it was... More
