Looking for non-chain restaurant? Consider this one. Based on grandma's recipes, an unusual combo of Mexican & Italian. I enjoyed "grandmas recipe" a pork dish with non spicy red sauce, fried beans & very fluffy rice. All excellent. My dining partner enjoyed lasagna. Counted seven layers. Large portion provided next day lunch. Very tasty. Family owned in small strip center.... More

This "strip center" restaurant calls itself "Mexican-Italian Cuisine" and they do both very well. The food is very well prepared, attractively served and tastes outstanding. We had the roasted chili rellaro -- not breaded and fried, but delicately roasted with a mole sauce.. The decor is as good as possible given the location and the building it's in.

My last night in Round Rock was spent here eating dinner, and it was excellent. Salsa is chucky, real good kick of heat & spice, loved it. For my main course I got enchilladas verdes that come with rice and refried beans. It tasted fresh, homemade, and so dang good. I will definitely come here again when I come back... More

Had the ahogado burrito. Very good. Fajita meat was perfect. Mole sauce was some of the best I have ever had. Also tried the flan. It was okay but not at the same level as the meal.

When I finished eating what was possibly the best lasagna I had ever had I thought I was going to crunch through the snow, in my boots, to my car that was sitting in a snowdrift in Chicago. This is the real deal. This little schizophrenic half Italian, half Mexican restaurant in a strip center is virtually unknown even to... More

We wanted to try something new for dinner, and we chose this place based on the reviews here and are SO glad we did! It is definitely a "hole in the wall" from the outside, but has a lovely and charming interior. It would still be a great place for a first date or family meal based on the charm... More

Everything is fantastic. It's as simple as that. Definitely a hidden gem. A part of me wants to keep this amazing place a secret from the world, but it would be selfish to not share. Why spend 30 minutes waiting for a table only to eat bland food in a noisy atmosphere? When you could eat at La Cocina where... More

Sick of chain restaurants and the "Hi I'm Mack and I'll be your server today" etc.? You should definitely try La Cocina then. I arrived in at 5.30pm am, a little early for dinner but I was hungry, but the fact that I was the only one there until towards the end of my meal didn't put me off. Seems... More

We have been traveling to Round Rock for ten years visiting family. We have eaten in many restaurants, and without a doubt this was the best dining experience in all these years. I had Italian, and my husband had Mexican food. Food was well prepared, good service, and good value. Not fancy, located in a strip center.

I asked the front desk of our hotel for someplace that had great food and was not a chain. They recommended La Cocina, the clerk said it was Half Mexican, half Italian! Sounds like a strange mix, but man was the food good. I had the Fajitas and my business associate had the fish. Both were amazing. Also the inside... More
