Excellent BBQ. I got the combo plate with ribs & brisket and both meats were perfect. The margaritas were great, there was no taste of alcohol (it tasted like a limeade). I'll certainly eat here again.

When in a search for BBQ, Salt lick is the answer, when you don't have the time to go to the Driftwood store, the Round Rock location suffices very well. They used to have a store in the Arboretum area, didn't really have the same quality product, while this location definitely does, Get the family special for 22.00 it is... More

Had my first trip to the new Salt Lick in Round Rock, TX on September 6th. Went for lunch with my family from Georgetown and, boy, was I surprised! If this is the best in Texas, we better burn them all down and start over. Meat had no smoked flavor, potato salad was dry and tasteless and the beans weren't... More

If you are into BBQ, this is the place for you. Try and schedule your visit around when there is a baseball game at the adjacent Dell Diamond, home of the Texas Rangers' AAA team. The food was good...but in the end, it is still just a plate of meat!

This place has great , Authentic Texas BBQ -- hands down, it's some of the best. I'm perplexed by some people who have recently given it only "1" or "2" -- This SALT LICK (the one in Round Rock) is great food. Husband & I shared the Brisket & Ribs combo plate, and there were generous meat portions. We probably... More

Great place for lunch or dinner for authentic Texas BBQ. Picnic tables so a very casual place to eat but great food and a fun atmosphere. Reasonable prices for the food and you can get whatever size portions you want. Lots of variety of sides and again options for sizes of dinners.

I don't understand why a party of 2 wait (outside) for about 45 minutes and when our table was ready the place was almost half empty inside. We were the only ones at a table that probably sat 12 and most of the tables around us were empty also. It might not have been so bad if the food had... More

The potato salad and the beans were awful....the beans were half cooked and the salad tasted old. The chicken was very good...moist and tasty. The sausage and ribs greasy with no seasoning. The brisket was on the dry side with no flavor. The coleslaw was tangy. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere of the place was very nice...live music.

The Salt Lick is overrated in my opinion. There are many other places for BBQ in Texas. Franklins, Smittys, Blacks to mention a few.

Has improved greatly since the opening. More live music would be great . Along with more outside dining and larger bar area.
