Like many, we had heard great things about the Salt Lick. Upon return to Texas we scheduled a day in which to enjoy such great BBQ. We went with no expectations other than great BBQ. We left hungry and very disappointed. The portions for the price are outrageous. The taste was terrible. My son would not eat his food and... More

Price was a bit higher than other BBQ places around....But, the pork ribs and brisket were really pretty good. The spicy BBQ sauce made it all even better. Really enjoyed the cole slaw (NOT sweet, no dairy). Potato salad was different in a good way. All in all, a good meal. Prefer my sausage without cartilage, though. Our waitress was very... More

Salt Lick has been an Austin area staple for a long time. A friend and I met for lunch at the Round Rock location, which is next to Dell Diamond. I had the pork ribs plate, and my friend had the brisket. My ribs were outstanding, and the dessert cobblers might have been even better (we tried both the peach... More

As soon as you walk in the aroma hits you in the face and you to eat everything they have. The wait staff was great and brought us out a little extra since it was our first time there. Too much food to eat at a reasonable price. I recommend you try the sampler its a little bit of it... More

Ok, I've been hearing about this place hoe years but I've not been in Texas. I saw the sign driving from Dallas to Austin and pulled on spontaneous like. Nice. I asked for help with the menu. I ordered the recommended burnt end brisket, which he called meat candy, and pork ribs. The brisket was a mix of melt in... More

A busy day but I can't leave Texas without a taste of Salt Lick's BBQ brisket and sausage so the family ordered takeout. Best BBQ ever! (And I've been to both Chicago and Kansas City. Neither comes close to Texas BBQ.) Their sides are delicous and plentiful as well.

The food to me and my family is average. We have been a few times thinking we just hit them on a bad day. It's always been the same. I will never go back after my last visit. Someone had vomited all in the women's bathroom sink. Yes, there was another sink, but the whole bathroom smelled of it. I... More

The meat was very good. We had the brisket, beef ribs and turkey. The day we went they were out of chicken. The potato salad is not the traditional that you would expect. It looked like sautéed potatoes. The peach cobbler was awesome!

BBQ joints in Texas should know that other "Texans" can also smoke brisket...I have cooked and "blocked" smoked meats for over 35 years. December 17th was the date, 8:15 pm was the time and Salt Lick was the choice for dinner with family living near by in Round Rock Texas, At first glance things were normal, nice open flame indoor... We were greeted and seated right away, walking past the fire pit with meats resting. Found out that was just for appearance. Atmosphere is like a hunting lodge with stone walls and fireplaces at each end, in other words, the place was large, loud and not comfortable. All tables are picnic style, long with seating for a lot of people.... More
