The food here never disappoints!

My husband and I have visited the salt lick in roundrock many many times since moving to Texas 3 yrs ago. It is by far the best BBQ we have eaten in Texas! I always either have the turkey plate or turkey sandwich $10.00! My husband often gets the family plate, which is all you can eat for $21.99... read more

The atmosphere at this place is phenomenal! What a beautiful place! My server, Melinae, a beautiful, true blue Texan, was amazingly helpful, as she recommended the Rancher. Perfect with a Dos Equis. Holy cow, a full pound of meat! One big rib, a slice of turkey, sausage, and two huge slabs of brisket. Also served with the best Texas BBQ... More

If you are not sitting the Salt Lick with a plate of BBQ in front of you, get in your car, get on the plane, or whatever you need to do to get there! This is true Texas BBQ. I am a Native Texan. We take our BBQ seriously. Just ask any true Texan. I have had plenty, both good,... More

We went on an evening where they were extremely busy. The staff and manager were great and really hustled to make sure that all guests, even those that were waiting, were well taken care of. Food was excellent and the staff very easily was able to handle a food allergy. Overall great experience with better than average brisket & sausage.... More

The BBQ was delicious! I am from Chicago and was traveling for business. I had read about the restaurant, but did not want to make a trip and fight Austin traffic to go to the original spot. This place was great. I loved the open pit and carving station right when you walked in. The sauces were fantastic and the... More

We were told it would be an hour. Based on the crowd I think this was due to the local crowd. Not touristy. We ended up sitting at the outdoor bar to avoid the wait. Even tho it was feb it was a tolerable cool temp with coat. inside bar has a bit more but no biggie. Food came super... More

The Salt Lick in Round Rock is jsut what you would expect a Texas BBQ place to be. Very cool "open" pit. Friendly, tasty, a little expensive but good portion size for the cost. The brisket is top notch, pork ribs are outstanding, So what brings the overall experience down? The sides, potato salad, the beans, the cole slaw, all... More

As far as BBQ goes this is the best in Round Rock TX. Have lived in Round Rock since the 90's. I have seen BBQ places come and go but having Salt Lick in Round Rock has added more people spending time inn Round Rock. The location is great. It is the perfect place to go when you have small... More

As a Kansas Citian, I have to have BBQ when I am in Texas. I usually stick to brisket however here for some strange reason we ordered a few other things to get a feel for the variety. The brisket here is just as you would expect in Texas. Not too fatty, not too lean, and definitely flavorful. However, the... More

Do yourself and your tummy a favor and enjoy a nice drive. Head out to Driftwood to the original Salt Lick instead. The Round Rock location is awful. Not the same BBQ at all. Ribs are super fatty and greasy.
