BYOB for the long wait

Went here on a Saturday night while visiting family in Austin. Glad we went with them because we would not have know it's a cash only place and that you can BYOB. On a Friday or Saturday night you can expect to wait 1-2 hours for a table. However, they have live entertainment while you wait and a... read more

That wonderful BBQ aroma hits you before you even get to the front door! Everything about the Salt Lick was truly Texas! This was my first time at Salt Lick, and I am very certain that it won't be my last. While there for dinner, there was a very short wait for a table - but the bartender was very... More

Thick bark, crunchy outside, juicy brisket and sausage is a little bit of heaven. Servers are friendly, fast and furious. Great place to eat Texas BBQ, either location. Try the habanero sauce, not as hot as you would expect but it gains heat as you eat more and more. Pecan Pie!

Four of us hunted down this restaurant on the advice of my aunt, who is crazy about ribs. Our GPS kept telling us to go 3 miles and make a U-turn, which confused us, but we finally trusted it and found Salt Lick on the opposite side of the divided highway, hence the long trip just to make a u-turn.... After trying BBQ all over the US I have determined that hands down Texas does it best. And whenever I am in Round Rock I have to hit The Salt Lick. The staff is always friendly and the BBQ is some of the best I have eaten. The meat is seasoned and smoked to perfection and you really done need... More

We have had several business dinners in the private room at this location, and I've visited several additional times with friend and family. While this location my not have the same ambiance as the original in Driftwood, I've always found the food here to be my top BBQ choice.

Some of the best BBQ you will ever eat in a truly Texas atmosphere. Love it. That wonderful smell hits you as soon as you walk up.

Went here for a casual dinner and the food was great if you enjoy simple Southern style barbecue. The brisket and ribs were tender and flavorful. The sides of coleslaw potato salad and beans were OK. One of our party had the Thurmans choice which was brisket ribs and sausage which she enjoyed immensely. Service was efficient and prices reasonable.

My family and I were hungry for BBQ and didn't want to drive too far so we decided to give Salt Lick a try. We should have driven farther. The only reason I am giving 2 stars/dots is because they had good service and good bread. Everything else was mediocre at best, I would even go as far as to... More

Right next door to Dell Diamond this place is great place to take in the Round Rock Express & BBQ in one outing. One the other hand, avoid when the Express (minor league team) are playing if you prefer fewer crowds. The food is great (albeit salty) but really not worth dealing with crowds. I bring my ear plugs just... More
