Next time: Chicken fried steak!

I took my mom here for a belated Mother's Day lunch and it was a terrific choice. Everything we ate ranged from good to great. The fried catfish was excellent! Our server was especially friendly and helpful, as was the owner. We loved the veterans' photos covering the walls.

Had a nice dinner while in Rosebud with 13 others. Service was great between one server and the owner. Food was good and came out quick for a group our size. Biggest drawback was advertisement for BBQ night and when we ordered, there was no brisket. No brisket in Texas?? So decided on ribs and turned out they only had... More

Yummm! Great chicken-fried steak & chicken. Hint, when they ask whether you want brown or white gravy, get both. They are light on salt and pepper, which I prefer. I can season my own. Peach cobbler is a must, as is the thick, hand breaded onion rings. It's on the road to nowhere big, so make a detour and go... More

We stop here frequently when driving from South Texas to Dallas. Never had anything that wasn't delicious. Can't beat the BBQ with the great homemade sauce.

Amazing apple-cherry and peach cobblers!!! So delish! Just ran in quickly to grab something sweet for the road, and I'm glad we did! Was a bummer that they were sold out of bread pudding, but when you drop in 15 minutes before closing, you can't expect everything on the menu to be ready and waiting! No bread pudding just means... It looks like a small ordinary cafe from the outside, but once inside, the atmosphere is truly unique! Pictures of veterans line the walls. Exceptionally clean. Now for the best part....the food is exceptional. The best cheeseburger and hand dipped onion rings I've ever had! Husband had their ribs, pinto beans, and corn. Nothing from a can! Not enough superlatives... More

I have to start with desert because their bread pudding is something very special. It's a small town diner with home cooked meals. At noon customers wait in line for a seat so get there by 11:30 or wait until 1:00. to avoid the wait. All food and deserts are home made and in 3 visits I really enjoyed it... More

I was looking for a different place to have Sunday lunch. We took off riding east from Temple, TX. My husband was getting very hungry and saw the signs for other local BBQs, etc. However, I pressed on to my prior researched choice. I'm SO glad I did. This family run rural restaurant must think they are competing against the... More
