Great food and friendly staff. Beautiful place and very clean. I ordered the burito with beef and the flavor was amazing. Good place to stop and have a lunch or dinner after driving for a long time. It is kind of hard to miss because the location but if you stop to get fuel its just one block behind it.

Every thing on the menu is great! Service is good, They have other people they are waiting on but they always make sure you have enough to drink and assure you that your order is being worked on so you don't feel you've been forgotten. I don't know where other people get that the food and service are lousy? I've... More

Ugh. We were driving from Marfa to Austin and really wanted a nice lunch spot. It was a Sunday so a couple of our top choices were closed. We ended up at El Chato based on the Yelp and Tripadvisor Reviews (and a complete lack of other of choices). It is conveniently located right off I-10, literally less than one... More

The food is not very good. The chicken fajitas were bland and greasy. My husband got the chicken fried steak one time and I'm never very happy to be charged too much for a meal that comes with french fries that I can find myself in the freezer isle at the grocery store. I placed a large to go order... More

We were very happy with our meal here. The guacamole enchiladas were great and my spouse said the same about the chicken fajitas. Even better were the deserts. They are homemade and the flan was great, as well as the wonderful chocolate pie. Even better was the price for all the good food. The décor inside is very bright and... More

Everything was served very hot. Pretty well seasoned. pretty clean, including restrooms. The restroom was tiny with little privacy.

Today's drive was from San Antonio to Artesia, NM. A long day on the road and by lunchtime we were scouring the landscape and internet for choices. El Chato's is an oasis--though the decor is a bit kitschy. There were numerous work trucks in the parking lot, which is usually a good sign. We were seated quickly and the server... More

As Californians on a road trip to Louisiana, we were eager to follow up on the recommendation made by our new Texas friend. He was clearly a regular there who was able to enthusiastically refer others to it. Like anyone in their sixties and dealing with 12-hour driving days, our memories were becoming blurred by dinner time, and so the... More

When my family and I got there we seated ourselves and waited 2 or 3 minutes for a server to come. Once she got there we ordered our drinks and waited about 10 minutes for them to come. When she brought out the drinks we told her we were ready to order. We started to order, but the menu was... More
