A worthwhile stop

Stopped while on a road trip and wanted to eat "local". Ordered the pot pie and was overwhelmed by the portion--generous to say the least and it was very good. The decor was very western and the bar being in an old train depot was interesting. Service was attentive and very friendly. And the cost... read more

Service was good. Big chunk of (pretty tasteless cheddar) cheese and bread to nosh on. But the beef was as tough as shoe leather. The locals swear by this place, but I have not gone back.

We live in Houston where the food is absolutely phenomenal, inexpensive many times and greatly varied, ranging from Thai, Vietnamese, Korean to Argentinian, you name it. We understand that Odessa just cannot rise to the level of Houston in the number and quality of food offerings, but we expected something decent from one of Odessa's oldest and most reliable restaurants.... This place has been here forever. I have been wanting to go for years and finally got the opportunity a couple weeks ago. Everything was as advertised. Had a Ribeye and mashed potatoes, great place for a serious meal.

We were in town for two funerals and went with family, group of 8, ages vary from 12 to 79. Chicken fried steak was the favorite choice among the group. One person had a salad, one steak and one garlic steak tips plate. EVERYTHING was delicious! They brought a block of cheese and bread to the table while we waited... More

I really like their steaks, they are some of the best I've had around here. They give you some cheese and bread as an appetizer which is amazing, they have the best chicken noodle soup on Wednesday!

We have been coming here for years! The steaks are some of the best in Texas! I love their steak cooked over mesquite wood, yum!! They serve you a large block of cheese to slice off what you want to eat while waiting for your meal, another yum!!! The veggies are pretty good and the pies are great!! Must have... More

We just went back & guess what??? You only get 1 side now.....a salad is extra because supposedly the owner didn't want to go up on steak prices again. I've never been impressed with their lettuce salad anyway but it's ridiculous to just keep cutting back when your making millions more. The boom will not always be here!!! The regulars... More

Thought I was caught in a 1970's time warp! Atmosphere hasn't been updated in at least 25 years. It's a steak house so let's start with the steak. 14oz KC Strip- not bad, cooked properly but needed a little seasoning. Side dish: had the seasoned veggies and they were terrible. Was nothing but yellow squash that had been cooked into... More

Went for a birthday celebration. Ambience is somewhat lacking but table conversation goes a long way to remedy the obvious. Wonderful cheese block that becomes addictive while you wait for your steak. Filet is the best you will find in Odessa unless you are your own grill master. Wine and beer are good options.
