Good food, great atmosphere!

This is the first time I've ever eaten here and it was really good. I got the chicken fried chicken. The only disappointment was that it said that the plate came with vegetables, but what I got were black-eyed peas and they weren't seasoned very well. I really don't like black-eyed peas! I was... read more

Definitively we are no expert on American cuisine, however we have been travelling in US for three weeks, mainly around the south, did 5000 miles and visited great number of different establishments. This one was exactly I would have expected Texas diner should look like. Of course this is ain’t Paris but the food was perfect for a place, staff... More

Perfect opportunity to have well prepared food by friendly local staff in a true central Texas atmosphere. Usually full of locals plus some cyclist and cycle riders and a few big town explorers. The food is quite good. The menu for breakfasts is predictable but with good ingredients and eggs cooked as requested. Lunch goes from hamburgers to chicken fried... More

I have eaten at the Texas Star several times, for breakfast and lunch, over the last year. Great country cooking and delicious burgers. Sometimes service can be a little slower than you'd like at lunch, but only if they are crowded.

My wife and I were taking a country drive last Saturday, November 2 and were going through New Ulm towards Cat Springs. We were both ready for a late lunch and passed The Texas Star. The parking lot was jammed. By the time I asked if she was interested in stopping we were a quarter mile down the road. We... More

The Texas Star Cafe is located in the small picturesque town of New Ulm (population 650). The outside of the building is an unpretentious, although new metal building. Inside, the decor is attractive country with a lot of patriotic and western memorabilia. The menu is classic country fare with outstanding chicken fried steaks and burgers. The salad bar has fresh... We stopped here for a quick bite during a ride, and found the menu and food quite agreeable. There are lots of places to stop in the general area; this is a good one.
