The fresh cookies, pastries, pies and cakes from Naegelin's Bakery are of historic proportions and timeless quality. It's all in the preparation. The Granzin family still uses recipes developed by the Naegelin family during more than a century of experimentation to get the right ingredients. As you walk into the front door of the bakery, the sweet smell of baked foods engulfs you like a warm blanket. The glass cases are full of what seems like an almost endless array of cookies and pastries in a rainbow of colors. The bakery is still famous for their strudels that Naegelin perfected years ago. The Granzin's have added terrific sausage kolaches in addition to the menu of fruit filled kolaches. We suggest you try the popular favorite: the Lebkuche, a thick, rectangular brown cookie covered with pink frosting. Don't forget to try our apple strudel! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Tasty treats

The great aroma hits you when you walk in the door! An slice of peach strudel was enough for both of us and all that we hoped for. The kolace was a little disappointing, needed more cream cheese. The springerle looked very tempting for our next trip.

You can go in your P J's just drive thru the window, you do not have to go in. Very popular place for breakfast.

This bakery is a real treat in a town of treats. Nagelin's is alway busy any time of the day 6 days a week and for good reason. It is all good. We go there two or three times a year and get leibkuchen and some other sweet. You can get a coffee and sit out back and eat it... More

The oldest bakery in town (if not the state), this bakery offers some of the best baked goods and cakes you can find. Usually a line, so be patient - it's well worth the wait!

We are indeed Texas's oldest active bakery, George, with the official plaque to prove it! Thanks so much for the five stars and kind words. Hope to see you for more strudel, kolaches and whatever you're craving soon. Take care, Naegelin's Bakery More

So many items to choose from! Reasonably priced and delicious. They also offer a discounted section to get day old items. Something for everyone.

For some reason I thought it would be better but as many other comments have mentioned oldest establishment does not mean it makes good pastries. Not saying that all their pastries are bad just saying I was expecting more. They have cookies, donuts, cupcakes, cream puffs, eclairs, and more. I had the long horn filled pastry and it was ok.... Naegelin's Bakery claim to be the oldest bakery in Texas. The bakery has sweet treats and breakfast sandwhiches. As far as the sweet bread it is average, but will satisfy your sweet tooth.

We are indeed the oldest bakery in Texas, Veito -- in business since 1868! We were cleared by UT, Texas Chamber of Commerce, United States Chamber of Commerce and just for good measure we are registered with the US Copywriter and Trademark office! Thanks for coming out to sample our fresh sweets and baked goods. It sounds like you enjoyed... More

Really cool bakery (oldest in Texas) but the food was only average. I bought an assortment of cookies and some kolaches and, while good, they were nothing extraordinary.

ChuckL70, sorry to hear our sweets weren't quite what you were hoping for! It doesn't sound like we missed the mark in any way, though, so it's a shame we only rated three stars. Still, we'd love another chance to wow you if you're visiting our area again in the future. Please keep us in mind! Best wishes, Naegelin's Bakery More

This used to be the best bakery in the city. The bakers who were there are now gone and it has become more commercialized. Sad thing.

Sorry to hear you feel like we've changed a bit in recent years, star! We're still the same Naegelin's we've been since 1868, and we'd never want to disappoint our customers. Expect greatness from us -- we'll keep working to win back your love. Best wishes, Naegelin's Bakery More

German by way of Mexico. Oldest bakery in Texas. Strudel is ok. Peach is best when u can get it. Go to Roundrock for donuts but the rose pastries are ok. Eclairs and cream puffs are still ok. Stick to those and kolaches. Breads are ok too. If you think you'd like to branch out from there and get excited... More

While we wouldn't say oldest means best, we do like to think that we've stuck it out this long because our food is top-notch -- it's disappointing you didn't agree, Rikki. Still, we hope you'll be back to keep letting us try to impress you, as we know we can find something that'll blow you away. Until then, Naegelin's Bakery More
