This historical bakery is nice to visit but I wouldn't want to eat there. Don't get me wrong, the offerings of pastry and sweets are digestible, just not that great. The pastry was bland and pricey but, if you want to experience a little bit of tradition, go. It was kind of fun to look around.

dropped in to check out the bakery items. Brownies were OK, the Black Forrest Cake was marginal. Kind of pricey, but a neat tradition.

We have been going to Naegelin's for decades. Quaint, local, off the square, cool, take out bakery. Classic local German bakery. Gotta go there if you want the "New Braunfels" experience.

Although on weekend the place is so packed your standing elbow to elbow, the wait is well worth the reward when you bite into it. Hometown goodness at its best!

I had heard a lot about this bakery so decided to go for a visit. I walked in and looked at some of their items on the shelving . I was shocked to discover that they use fully hydrogenated AND partially hydrogenated oils in their baked goods. That is horrible. Over and over we are being warned of the dangers... More

Don't miss the eclair. Most folks think they have had a great eclair before. Unless you've been here or Paris, you probably have not! It's perfect. The cream inside is what eclair cream is supposed to be... it isn't Boston creme or custard like most places shove inside their pastries. The other stuff here is great too... try the strudel!

If you think you are getting German bread and baked goods, don't even bother going to Naegelins. This is just the same stuff you can get anywhere in the U.S. Really sweet and super soft bread. However if you like that kind of stuff, then you will like their goods.

We enjoyed hunting for this place as we wanted to visit this landmark bakery. It was fun to walk through the door and see all the goodies in the case. Where do we start? We ended up buying a few treats. Our favorite was the chocolate cream filled bismarks. They got devoured in our car. We also bought a cinnamon... More

Used to love this place for many years, but I'll be honest. It hasn't been up to par for a decade, I'd say. Things just never taste that fresh or even tasty. You're gonna get a LOT better treats at 2 Tarts, only about 1/4 mile away.

Always stop by when I'm in the area and have even made an hour long drive to get goodies from this wonderful little bakery. Everything is made fresh and the place just smells amazing when you walk through the door. Cheese pockets are so perfect with morning coffee. And love the drive thru when I'm in a hurry. Custom cakes.... More
