We thought "German food...German town" so we found this place on tripadvisor. I have never had a worse dining experience in my entire life. The place was empty I should have known. The waiter was too distracted to suggest any items from the menu so we went with sausages, beets, potato hash. Beets were from a can, sausages were inedible... More

I used to love this place! But it's very notorious they changed chef, nevertheless the baker is the same and cakes are still amazing! Try the Cherry Tart (Hollandaise Kirch) or the honey & almond cake!

Ate here mostly because all of the other German restaurants are closed Monday nights, and I wish I stayed in my hotel room and ordered pizza instead. Our waitress was not friendly, had virtually zero knowledge about the menu, and even forgot to bring our beer until well after we had our food. The food was served to us cold.... More

We went to Friesenhaus for lunch on a hot day in July. This was the first German food we have ever had. Looking at authentic German food on the Internet l would say that this food was spot on and delicious. Large portions, hot and fresh and the wait staff practically doted on us The ambiance was casually upscale. Live... More

My wife (who is German)) and I stopped for a mid-afternoon lunch and it was not busy, as I was expecting. We enjoyed a cold wurst (sausage) lunch plate with salad and good bread. The ambiance was great, service and food were excellent. Next trip out that way we would do dinner there if our schedule permits.

Having lived in Germany, and knowing this place was owned by Germans, we were somewhat disappointed in the food and service here. The jaeger schnitzel was the best of what we were served, but when I asked for more mushroom gravy the waitress said it would be extra. The spätzle was served al dente and tasted like packaged noodles that... More

If you like German Food and Beer You will Love Friesenhaus in Downtown New Braunfels! The Hunter Schnitzel is the best and Texas Schnitzel close second. Beer selection, is German engineered, with a proper glass, matching coaster and precision tap pour. If you need advice on food and beer pairings just ask. New Braunfels is a haven for good food and Friesenhaus is among the best. I've been several times; today we had the Hunter schnitzel (brown mushroom gravy) and the Friesen schnitzel) (topped with sauteed tomato slices and dill cheese) with mixed vegetables and fried potatoes. I was not particularly hungry going in, but the food was so yummy that we... More
