Smaller scale, larger portions, Friesen hospitality.

I've missed their original location, and eagerly awaited the reopening at a more visible spot. Unfortunately, I still have the old place in my head (old building I've known for years, lots of new stonework, exceptional facility), so the new restaurant just doesn't match it, 'aesthetically'. The new... read more

I've missed their original location, and eagerly awaited the reopening at a more visible spot. Unfortunately, I still have the old place in my head (old building I've known for years, lots of new stonework, exceptional facility), so the new restaurant just doesn't match it, 'aesthetically'. The new is a former BBQ/Steakhouse/Fish restaurant (under various owners). A lot of work... More

After reading the mixed reviews we decided to try this restaurant. The food and service was very good. Comparable to the food we had in Germany, October of last year. We ordered the Beer and potato soup, it had a whole smoked bratwurst in it, wonderful. My husband got the sausage sampler, that also was really good. I would strongly... More

We tried 2 German restaurants in New Braunfels this evening. The Friesenhaus was very good. The service was outstanding and the food superb. We spent Oktoberfest in Germany in 2015 and this was as good as any meal I had while there. I spent two years in Germany in the Army and very much love German food and bier. My... More

This place is a sleeper among restaurants! I was there with friends for a quasi-business meeting and the food was excellent and the service was superb! Our server was truly German and a couple in our party ordered in German and there was not even a hiccup from the server! All around excellent. I will certainly return!

We just do not understand why many restaurants do not make the effort to serve hot food hot and cold food cold. Although good, the sausage, schnitzel and side were just not hot. If so, they would have been excellent. The hot apple strudel was served on a very cold plate. The other plates were barely warm. Just does not... More

This is my husband's favorite restaurant. We have tried several dishes and they are all excellent. I prefer the Jager schnitzel with spaetzle and he likes the Texas schnitzel and sauerkraut. The beer is excellent as well, according to him.

Heard of this place on the radio and it had great reviews so we hopped in to try it. As seems to be the case all the German restaurants are a little pricey. Portions are huge and food we had the Jaeger and Texas schnitzel. We had the side of fries, tomato salad and home fried potato's. Staff was efficient... More

I have come back to the Haus after they lost their lease on the old place and had to build a new location. I am a big fan of the new digs... it is brighter and in a more convenient location. Food is just as good as before. BEER IS STILL EXCEPTIONAL. You will be hard pressed to find better... More

This new place just opened up, very easy to find and accessible. Was greeted very quickly as we walked in. The customer service was very pleasant and attentive, waitresses were nice. The food was something I expected, great tasting, and abundant is portions. The three different meals we shared, the food was very authentic. The highlight was the dessert, the... More

Family and I went in and had a GIANT (2 Litre) Boot of fantastic beer and even better schnitzel. However, this was almost a year ago and I've read that they have moved locations, and their website no longer features a menu available. Anyone know what's going on?
