The setting is rustic. The restaurant is located in an old Mill located in historic Gruene on the Guadalupe river. The food is exquisite and the service is excellent. A great place to take the family.

I've lived in Comal County all my life, and believe me, the locals love the Gristmill Restaurant, too! For me, personally, I'll take their CFS anytime, over anyone restaurant in the state! I love the historic ambience, as well. It is great in the fall and spring, when the season is more favorable, to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Large restaurant built inside historic gristmill, enjoy the best wurst ever and the hugely popular chicken fried steak. Some tables feeling like you are in a tree house overlooking a stream in the valley below.

The Gristmill has a cool ambiance and is a staple to almost every tourist that comes to town. The food is usually good but inconsistent. As someone who lives nearby, I don't think the food itself is worth the prices or the long wait times, but if you're on vacation and want to eat somewhere local and unique, this will... More

This restaurant is a very good location near the center of town, next to the river and good food at reasonable prices.

We try to stop in Gruene every year or two and usually eat at the Gristmill. The seating closest to the river is scenic but It stays pretty busy during the tourist season and you cant always get one of those tables. But anywhere you sit is interesting since it is built around the remains of the old gristmill. There... More

Casual restaurant located right by the iconic Gruene water tower. It is packed with a wait around noon on Sundays. We gone with family one two different Sundays around noon and there was only a short wait to be seated due to how large this place is. Drinks and food arrived shortly after ordering and were exactly what we ordered.... More

so this is in an old mill with so much history that to insulate it would take so much away from the beauty. that being said it is quite warm, there are fans throughout but sit with of view of the river its about the same temp wise so might as well have a pretty view, I had the ribs... More

After shopping we went to try the Gristmill since we were in the area. I have to confess they had sent us a buy one get one free voucher. Well we both ordered the Shrimp dinner with coleslaw and fries. For an appetizer we had the jalapeno torpedo's. Our waiter was new his 2nd day but he was great, got... More
