As with all BBQ places the smoked brisket is always hit and miss. On this occasion even asking for moist parts with some fat I got a plate of "reasonable" meat. It was neither moist not dried out so was OK but nowhere near what I was expecting. There was no fat either. Service was good and everyone was friendly.... More

The Smoke House was right across the street from the Hotel so I could walk over. The Chicken Salad Sandwich was my FAVORITE. I ate the at least 5 times during my 2 week stay. Friendly and Clean Good prices!

I always seem to stop here as I'm heading out of New Braunfels back home. This time I had the Wurst Kabob Plate advertised as five kinds of sausage on a stick with beans, potato salad and bread. I switched to the cole slaw, very good vinegar based, and the hot German potato salad, always one of my favorites. The... More

We enjoy this place. I like their turkey with dressing. It's the only thing I'll get. If it isn't available, we go somewhere else. They make great BarBQue. The sausages are good. I like taste testing the jerky. Most of their sides are terrific. I love the cranberry dressing, no mayo. We usually spend $20 on 2 of us. The... More

Okay, I liked the potato salad. And that concludes this writing. I could easily make this meal at home. One benefit was the workers knew what did and did not contain gluten, a no-no for me. That was a plus. We got out of here for $15 for two meals, so the prices were very reasonable.

This location used to be very rustic, but they now have a new, big building. We found this change in atmosphere not as appealing. The food was okay, however, when ordering, I would suggest requesting "lean", otherwise you may not be satisfied. When having your order taken, I would suggest patience and clarity (our order was all mixed up and... More

I love brisket but it was just average. Would not stop again but the people were friendly. My husband was happy with his beef.

Readers, I've had a lot of BBQ from the Rockies to Georgia. This one fits right in the category of the BBQ variety you can expect from a central Texas German country store. So you can ignore those negative reviews below. Here's the deal. This business has been famous for decades for their smoked meats-cheeses-sausages-jerky, mostly sold mail order as... More

The ribs were good, but did not have a natural smoked flavor. The brisket was also good but not great. Would not recommend or return.
