This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. Not quite what I expected

I was somewhat surprised by this restaurant. We love places that are not fancy and have lots of menu choices. This one is a winner on both counts. The things that surprised me were first of all, the onion rings. While good, they were not as outstanding as I expected. Also, we were warned that the... read more

Came here with some co-workers after working in Schertz. The drive was well worth it. I am not much of a catfish person but the grilled and pan seared versions here were phenomenal. Everyone else had fried catfish, oysters, or shrimp and also agreed it was great. Service was excellent. Very cool country vibe inside. Won't hesitate to bring back... More

This place holds a lot of history. Walk in the front door and you see it right away. Big old building with a upper balcony over looking the lower floor. Place was and is usually packed with people. We had catfish and shrimp and everyone was satisfied. With it came gumbo soup (yummy)! Onion rings (super)! There were 5 of... More

People rave about the onion rings at Clear Springs and sure, they're great. But... there's the ella chicken, and the gumbo and the etouffee.... there is some good stuff here! The service can be slow when it's crowded, so go with friends you enjoy.

LOVE the atmosphere and their coconut shrimp is hands down THE BEST in Texas. And added bonus - it's VERY economical for a family of four!

After reading great reviews, this restaurant still exceeded our expectations. Everything we tried was excellent. Our favorites were the perfectly prepared fried shrimp and grilled catfish. The fried okra appetizer was the best we've ever had. I would certainly recommend it. We were seated quickly, the staff was friendly and the service was great There is plenty of parking, and... As everyone else says: "catfish and onion rings!" Yes, they serve other things, but you come here for catfish and onion rings! Their catfish is served with fries, hush puppies (or, if you're my daughter, "shush dogs"!) and cole slaw, and, inexplicably, a couple of rings of raw onion. The slaw is creamy/sweet/tangy, so don't just push it aside! You... More

ONION RINGS!... and the other stuff is great too. Authentic southern cooking with great service complete with the trimmings. Their chicken fried steak..chicken... and fried catfish were awesome. Want a good sampler try the "little buddy" huge tasty shrimp. Grandma's mashed potatoes.mmm. will definitely come back. Bring tums.

Another of our annual family favorites. A trip to New Braunfels just wouldn't be the same without at least one meal at Clear Springs. The catfish and "fixins" are unparalleled and the dining experience is über-unique inside a totally cool old building that dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. It's... More

After a day of floating the river we stopped in for a late lunch! Onion Rings are a must, so we ordered a small order...they were hot and delicious! My husband had a small Chicken Fried Steak and I had a small order of Fried Catfish......both were generous portions and very good! Service was great!
