Not Happy

I use to love this place but it has slipped over the years. Were moving back to Texas and I bragged on this as a great place for German food.

I went with my wife in May 2015 and ordered Wienerschnitzel with German potato salad while on vacation. I paid a decent price for it, $17.99 and it looked nice and golden brown on the plate but as I ate it, there were 3 small rare spots in the cutlet that I had to spit out. It did taste good... More

Stopped by on our way through town. I had the Jager snitzel with the potato pancakes. They were both excellent. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side, as after a while the breading will get soggy. Service was excellent, and make sure to visit the dessert case!

This use to be one of my favorite restaurants in the area. My last visit was in 2012 and it was excellent. I returned in 2015 and was very disappointed. My primary disappointment came with the tiny portions for dinner. I think I left hungrier than when I walked in. The food was okay, nothing special. They no longer have... More

I ordered the blackened Tilapia (not very German, I know) but it was very tasty. It came with green beans (they were "eh"), German potato salad (pretty good), but the best thing I had was their chocolate chunk cookie the size of my face!! It was to die for!!

Went here first night in New Braunfels was not happy with meal felt as if I wasted $20. I had the Wiener Schnitzel and potato pancake. The Wiener Schnitzel was Ok and the pancake tasted like eating grease patty off the griddle. Not worth $20! Place was also run down with paint/drywall flaking on ceiling, bathrooms run down and rusty... More

Went with another couple, so we had a chance to try different offerings. It was a slow Monday night after Easter Sunday, so we had their complete attention! My son and I had Jaegerschniztel, with potato pancakes as a side, and red cabbage as an extra. We both enjoyed it! Wife had meat spinach puff pastry pie as an entrée,... More

Yes, a little depressing as you walk in, but we found the food to be "homemade" and pretty good. We had the sausage sampler with fried potatoes and rotkohl (red cabbage) and all were tasty; no complaints. The bratwurst was not available; how can that be?. Not all items on the menu were available and some of the beers were... More

This is a smaller German restaurant compared to the Alpine house and does not have a beer garden. However the service and food are also good here. Good value for the money and another favorite of mine.

We have been to Oma's House before when we are in the area, but tonight was really the best! We started our dinner with an order of German egg rolls. It came with 2 per order and what a treat it was. We each ordered something different to try. My husband had the stuffed schnitzel. It was wonderful. Stuffed with... More
