Description: This is a fairly new Sushi Bar and Asian Bistro that opened July 2009. We went for the first time this last Saturday night, Jan. 16, 2010. The place was great - we're from Houston and we know great restuarants and this one is great for a small city like New Braunfels. Nicely decorated with an attentive owner and staff. I'm not much on Sushi but the young people from Austin, Tx. that we were with said it was very good. They also served Chinese dishes like "Happy Family" and General Tso's as well as Japanese tempura and teriyaki specialties. The Shrimp eggrolls and miso soup were good and the portions quite large - my husband and I split a meal and an order of eggrolls and we were stuffed. Anyway, great new place and needed in New Braunfels. I hope the owner does well!

Love this restaurant...the food is greatt. The tempura is so light and crisp, the sushi is very fresh and artfully displayed.Loved the Bento box selections and the service is suburb! The place is a bit smaill and narrow, but it makes for a cozy meal.

We were really in the mood for sushi, but not in the mood to drive to Austin or San Antonio. In spite of the questionable reviews we gave A-Tan a try. I love sushi, but the wife and 10 y/o prefer cooked food. Reluctantly the agreed to step out of their box and give it a try. Thanks to Brett... More

I will never be back to A Tan. The food was nothing to get excited about. You can get better at numerous other places around town. Tempura crab tasted like some cheap imitation HEB crab and the calamari was worse. Shrimp was mediocre. Fried rice and puffs were very good so I will give them that. What made my decision... More

I'm a local in the area and regularly visit A-Tan. They always have a warm welcome for me when I visit and the food never disappoints! I've eaten very little off their regular menu and normally stick with sushi. The sushi is always fresh and delicious and they offer special rolls almost every day of the week. If you're a... More

I didn't really know what to expect from an Asian restaurant in New Braunfels, but I was really craving it so I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised and they had exactly what I was craving. I had some really delicious hot green tea, the seafood ceviche salad, and spicy edamame. Normally, asian restaurants serve small ceviche salads... More

Not the usual Chinese-y type place. Excellent salad dressing that is different, dishes are crisp and interesting and excellent.

Went there for some take out. Food was ok. Our 2 sushi rolls were loosely rolled, came apart when you picked it up. Was not impressed with wasabi shumai. Stuffing was rather mushy. Inari rolls were good but pricey. The hostess at the door was a tad bit snippy, when asked how many pieces of Inari came in an order.... More

This place has great sushi and they are willing to make custom orders for you. I have several allergies and they have always been willing to omit and changes ingredients in their sushi to meet my needs. They also have a good chinese and teriyaki food if you don't like sushi.
