Description: Schobel’s Restaurant on the River serves home-cooked Southern food with a German flair. Whether it’s a quick trip through the buffet or a custom order from our menu, we’re certain you’re going to leave full and happy. We specialize in home cooked food! We have an in-house butcher, home-made sausages, farm fresh vegetables, and pride ourselves on friendly service. We are known for our buffet which is definitely not your typical buffet. Nothing is pre-breaded or out of a can – it’s grandmothers cooking on a larger scale. If buffets aren't your thing we also offer a full menu filled with Southern favorites and a few German dishes. Don’t forget to leave room for our delicious desserts! We have an assortment of homemade pies, with buttermilk being our specialty.Come check out our full bar! All food is made fresh daily. Nothing is saved. The buffet was delicious! Can't say enough about having fresh food...they don't even have a microwave!!! It's that fresh!!!!

First time eating here and i must say i enjoyed it. Had the buffet which had fried chicken meatloaf, and pot roast. Decent looking salad bar with chilled plates. Service was very friendly and this is a great place for families and small groups. For a somewhat busy Sunday, place was very clean, and adequately staffed. Interior had a fireplace,... More

The lunch buffet was very hearty and well-plenished. There were alot of options for salads and then at least a half-dozen meat entrees; several vegetables and a dessert buffet. Ordering off of the menu was also an option.

This past weekend we went to Schobels Restaurant in New Braunfels on the River. My wife ordered the Jumbo Fried Shrimp and I did the same. We did the salid Bar which was huge and had a huge Cheese Round along with everything else you would want. Then the meal arrived. I looked to my wife and said what did... More

My wife and I have been here twice so far and plan to be back more in the future. I travel for a living and only get to get to the area once in a while, maybe once per year. The first time we stopped in to see what the place was like. We enjoyed most of the food that... More

This place reminds of some just good old fashioned comfort food. Nothing fancy or overdone just good. The wife loves it, which is always a plus. The decor is very homey and welcoming. The only drawback is that it's not closer to My house, but then again if it was I would be much larger. Good home cooked, comfort food.

Schobels offers a full menu with a German theme. The servings are generous and very tasty. The wait staff and management are friendly and courteous. My wife and I usually share an entrée from the menu and it is more than enough for both of us. The salad and food bar is wonderful and kept fresh by the staff. To... More

Don't know about this one. Waitress was nice, personable. Schnitzel looked deep fried and full of grease. Thought red cabbage too vinegary, although my wife liked it. So-called "German potatoes" were peppered w/bacon, which was more bacon fat & grease. After the dining experience, my wife took ill & I had an upset tummy - coincidence?

My wife and I had been on a road trip for two weeks, and after spending a wonderful weekend in New Braunfels, had a delicious mean at Schobels before starting our trip home.
