We were told by a local that this place was great so we decided to try it out on a Saturday night. The place was pretty busy but the line moved along pretty quickly. We were surprised to see what appeared to be electric pits. There may be smoke pits too but we didn't see or smell them. We ordered... More

Joyce, you should ALWAYS taste the smoke! Sorry to hear that didn't come through for you guys, and I can understand why it was a disappointment. While it's awesome that you loved the sides, the meat's the main event at a barbecue place, and we want each thing you try to be even better than the last. Thanks for the... More

After spending a few days in New Braunfels and seeing a lot of German restaurants, we were stoked to finally enjoy some Texas barbecue. At Cooper's you walk in and will select your proteins right from the grill (with some help with a carver); you'll be charged by the pound! Then walk through the cafeteria-type line to get your sides... More

Welcome to Texas indeed, Sophie! Thanks for giving those who might not have been here a walk through. We're pumped that you enjoyed yourself, and we can't wait to have y'all back! All the best, Mark, General Manager More

Sorry Coopers, you didn't not match your reputation, perhaps Rudy's has spoiled us. I say pricey, and it is for BBQ but close to the same price as Rudy's, which is the class of the field. There are quite a few cheaper BBQ joints much cheaper and just as good as Coopers. You need the right amount of fat to... More

Don, I'm sorry we didn't knock this first visit out of the park for you guys. We earned the reputation you mentioned by serving up great barbecue, so the fact that you weren't crazy about your meal is a red flag to us. My first reaction is that maybe y'all would prefer our lean brisket. That said, I'll follow up... More

Nothing fancy, just down home good food and really the best BBQ in Texas. If you appreciate really good BBQ, then Cooper's is for you. OK, so it may cost a little bit, but nothing cheap is good. Plus, as they say here in Texas, there were plenty of side fixings to feed an army and they kept them coming.... More

The food here is good, but expensive. The bill sure seems to add up fast. The side bar after you go through the line is a nice touch.

Hey, Mike. BBQ isn't the cheapest food in the world. That said, we keep our prices competitive for the area -- plus the bread, pickles and beans are all free! Really glad that you enjoyed. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long until you make the drive up from SA again. All the best, Mark, General Manager More

Coopers...this is bbq country, coopers is just one of many very good bbq restaurants in the area...from way up in Llano...the first thing you see is a huge open pit with a great variety of meats...beef ribs, pork chops, brisket etc...a thing of meat beauty! You order by the lb at the pit and then go in for sides...the bad... More

Hi, Kit! Thanks for getting in touch. I wanted to let you know that our prices align with Rudy's more than you seem to think -- many of our items are the same price, with some being just slightly higher than theirs. Being that we're a small business, we think we're doing pretty great on that front, but we're sorry... More

Very good beans, meat is ok, desserts are to die for.but costs about $75-100 for 6 of us to eat there, and 1 of them is a baby....The space is very cozy, just wish the seats were more comfy.

Hi! Thanks for getting in touch. We think $15-$20 is reasonable for 5 adults to eat barbecue, but if you think the meat is just okay, I can see why you would question that. Feel free to let us know if there's something you think we could be doing better to make your next visit feel more worth it. That... More

We ate at this restaurant twice during our month long visit to New Braunfels & it was even better the second time. My husband had the brisket & it was tender & juicy. I had the ribs & they were meaty, smoky & delicious. We will definitely return here next year & highly recommend to our friends.

I am going to make this short. I eat a ton of good BBQ. This was the best brisket I have ever had. Go for the moist brisket, when eating BBQ don't think of your next blood test. Pork ribs very good. Beans solid.

This place was recommended to us. We had an issue trying to order food and pay b/c there was no one there and we were not sure how to order or where to pay. But that was rectified very swiftly. You order your meat by the pound in the front and then get your sides and drinks next (like a... More

It's not a true trip to Texas without some good old fashioned BBQ. You'll have to thank your source for recommending us to you, Rosie! We're glad you stopped by while you were in town. Hope to see you next time you end up in New Braunfels. Take care, Mark, General Manager More
