The new Abuelo's has wonderful ambiance and a great addition of a patio area. And like the old location, the food is consistently good. I had the enchiladas de Cozumel, which is really more of a crepe than an enchilada. It is a crepe filled with guacamole, covered with a creamy wine sauce and topped with shrimp and scallops. It... Abuelo's has a new location, 2908 N Loop 250 W, just down the road from the old one. I love the new building. It looks smaller but seems to be more efficient and much cleaner! The outdoor patio area is open seating and only serves appetizers and drinks. They had a live band and we enjoyed sitting out there while... More

I love the food here. I have tried several items off the menu and everything is good. It does take a while to be seated but that is everywhere you go in the permian area. Margaritas are good as well.

I live in a small town south of Houston. There is a restaurant called :Lopez" that is the best at Tex-mex food. Period. Hands down. So this was a shock to see it being done right by this place, Wow. great food, great atmosphere. Good service. The food? Well I'll just say they know what they are doing. Excellent sauces,... More

The new location for Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant is just west of the old place (now at Midkiff & the Loop, on northeast side). Our party of 6 had a 25 minute wait, which I guess is not too bad considering west Texas is booming & most places have a wait to get seated. We got drinks from the bar and waited... More

The two best places to eat in Midland with no contest at all are Wall Street Bar and Grill and Abuelo's. This is the best Mexican place in town by a landslide. The Margaritas are awesome. Waiting is a pain and usually really long but that is Midland. Service is slow but again that is Midland. Large menu with a... More

Abuelos is our favorite Mexican food restaurant in town. The atmosphere is wonderful and so is the service and the food. I can change out the traditional rice and beans on my enchilada plate for something healthier, like steamed vegetables. The three dipping sauces for their complimentary chips are outstanding. And their Mojitos are made by hand, not from a... More

Good food, predictable. The problem in Midland is service. Due to the oil boom, they struggle to keep qualified and trained staff. Competition for food service people here is high and hence they have a lot of turnover. It is a good restaurant but very dependent on the staff whether you get a meal in a reasonable amount of time... More

First of all, I have to start by saying this is an expensive Mexican restaurant. Dishes start at $10 and up...but they are so worth it! I had the lighter portion of the Fajita tacos, meaning they give you 2 tacos instead of 3. I am so happy I did this as they are very filling and I had eaten... More

Shared a Durango burrito with my wife...thought it was a lunch portion. The potatoes had no potatoes in them and the overall flavor of the meal was a great disappointment and we doubt we'll be back to what we thought was a fair place to eat. The service was good but when it came to the food, "what happened?"
