A Hikers' Auberge

If you are walking the Tour du Mont Blanc there is little choice but to stop at the Auberge de la Nova on Day Two of the hike. Les Chapieux is at the isolated end of a long valley. There was a friendly welcome and one member of staff spoke good English. The Jupiter beer was most welcome after a... read more

Luckily we only popped in for a much needed drink. The lady behind the bar greeted us with ''what do you want'' with a dirty look up and down. Also implied we couldn't afford 'french' beer. We found her attitude rather amusing, but not sure all would.

We stayed one night in Les Chapieux, sleeping at the Chambres du Soleil. We decided to eat elsewhere, since that establishment offered a big 5 course meal that took 2 hours to serve. The Auberge de la Nova is a popular refugio that serves dinner to all of its patrons first. But after 7 P.M., it operates as a restaurant.... More

Well what can we say about the owner of the Auberge de la Nova, pitiful to say the least. We arrived after a long 12 hour hike to arrive at the Auberge expecting to have a cold beer with our friends only to find out that the owner had SOLD our room to the highest bidder. We were part of... More

We arrived here tired, hot and thirsty and were happy to find a great bar and spacious garden in which to sit and enjoy our beer. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful, for example offering to ring our next stop for us, since we had not had any confirmation. We shared a room with shower and basin (wc down the... More

We had been booked into Chambres du Soleil (next door) and asked here where it was. We were told they didn't know. Didn't stay here and so ranked it down the middle, except for their service to us. They could have been helpful to tired hikers and we're not. The Chambres was fantastic in every way.

As others have mentioned, this is an auberge with a mixture of rooms with ensuites, rooms with shared facilities and dormitories. We were lucky enough to have a room on first floor with outlook to two sides and small ensuite. It was basic but more than adequate and very clean. The only problem was the bed wasn't too comfortable which... More

We have stayed here twice , on the two occasions we have walked the Tour de Mont Blanc. On the first occasion we had a small double room and more recently , 2 weeks ago, we had beds in an 8 bed dormitory. On the recent occasion we arrived late , an hour an a half after dinner, but the... More

Firstly lets put this in context. This is an Auberge, not a hotel and it is geared entirely towards the summer hiking and biking community, being placed next to a large camp site, smack on the TMB circuit. It is in an old building which has been renovated, but is still old. Rooms are small but functional and very clean;... More

We stayed here on night 2 of our TMB and were pleasantly surprised. This was our first experience of non en suite facilities so we were nervous. We had a private double room, not a dorm and the bathroom situation was not too bad at all. The auberge is placed exactly where you need it at the end of a... More
