Toklarija has taken the concept of slow food to the penultimate conclusion: long meals. This is really fabulous if you're not in the middle of nowhere, driving on country roads with no light in a rental and the only two people in the restaurant. Basically we loved the food, it was fantastic. The suckling pig was truly that: a suckling.... More

Indeed the place is small, it can serve 17 people a day. It takes a bit of driving from Porec or Novigrad but a nice countryside. You will drive into a very small village of only a few houses and outside it you will find this 6-700 year old tiny mill. They have done a good job making it into... More

If you're a serious food lover and you love your local wines, please visit this lovely little place. Please take your time to dine here, as it should take whole afternoon or evening, to enjoy the lovely Istrian slow-cooking. We were sat in the garden - a perfect summery dining spot - overlooking the homegrown vegetables, and had a selection... More

If you are in the area you must go!!!!! The owner is a really nice guy and excellent chef. The setting is a 16th Century Olive Oil press. The owner makes his own wine and grappa, although he no longer drinks he knows his stuff. All the food is local and a lot of it is off his land, cheese,... More

We ate here last night - the food was absolutely amazing, the waiter spoke perfect English and looked after us impeccably. We ate 6 courses, with 3 different wines to accompany them, and aperitif to start which was nice and smooth. It is expensive but the whole food and experience make it worth it! They do only take cash so... More

Beware, the cost of this experience is irrationally high. The overall experience was most interesting. It involved finding out about the restaurant, making a reservation (challenging since they do not have a web site or email), and following a challenging mountain road to get to the restaurant. This difficulty is part of the mystique. There is no menu, they serve... More

I planned to go somewhere else but ended up there and I'm incredibly lucky for it. It's a place with only a few tables. There was only one young waiter which has done his job perfectly. The restaurant is traditionally styled with ethnic artefacts everywhere. The toilettes were very clean and the flower on the sink was pointing at a... More

Sitting outside on top of a ridge on one of the hottest days of the year was amazing. The breeze and the shade kept us comfortably cool, while the waiter served us five courses of beautifully prepared local food. My husband normally isn't into these kinds of meals, but will tolerate them with me. He really enjoyed our meal and... More

Incredible dinner, not too be missed. Easily our best meal in Croatia Plan on 400-500 KN a person for a six course meal including wine. Very Very tasting! Closed Tuesdays Reservations a must, no walk-ins. They only buy what they need for reserved guests.

A restaurant unlike any other I've ever visited. Small but the food and ambiance where perfect. The owner/cook/waiter had a great feeling for what we wanted and without any questions he served us a perfect meal. Perfect taste, perfect amount and very interesting food. Price is high for this area but the meal was well worth it.
