Amazing!

Probably the best dining experience in Istria, each course better than the previous. Good wine, very good service and a perfect quiet setting with lovely views. Yes, it is pricey, but worth it and we will definitely go back!

The journey to Toklarija is part of the excitement as you weave through the quiet village of olive groves and quaint houses. We booked in advance for lunch (as is well recommended) and arrived around 1.30pm. The whole meal took almost 3 hours which is part of the slow cooking experience. We were seated outside under the pine trees with... More

Came for white truffles, being promised beforehand. When ordering only black offered. Well!? But then also food was bery average from the beginning to the end. Only the price was like we would eaten 100g of white truffles.

Impromptu trip off season to this hidden restaurant. One of the highlights of our trip. Excellent food and service. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. He was extremely professional, a service level equal to a Michelin star restaurant. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Other reviewers mentioned it was expensive, though not cheap, the quality... More

Recommended by friend of a friend, this out of the way restaurant was magic! A winding taxi ride from Buzet led us to this family run restaurant. Dad is the chef. Son is the waiter. All dishes and wine well explained and great. In the last year they have changed from meeting the needs of busloads of tourists to a... More

Having picked up a copy of the magazine "like Croatia 2014" (www.likecroatia.com) we discovered a very handy list of the best restaurants in Istria and Kvarner. We actually visited 4 of the 40 recommended spots. Konoba Toklarija was listed as No. 31 which, in our view, did not do it justice at all. We found our way and it was... More

A slow cooking concept restaurant. This is an ancient olive mill converted to a restaurant. Family run, father does the cooking. We were given a private little room to ourselves in this very old rustic and gorgeously renovated restaurant. We opted for "surprise" courses rather than ordering ourselves. They asked about any allergies or food restrictions or dislikes and then... More

We had a good diner, in a perfect atmosphere and an (initially) friendly host. The unpleasant surprise came afterwards: prices are insane!! We had to pay over 1700 kuna for two persons ( approx 230 euro), I mean, I really liked the food, especially the suckling pig, but this is crazy. It just wasn't thát good; the home made vegetable... My husband and I ate at Toklarija on our last night in Croatia and were so glad that we did. We dined outside; the garden setting is gorgeous and peaceful. We were greeted warmly and made to feel comfortable throughout our evening (including being supplied with our own personal can of insect repellent — very necessary). The restaurant serves only... Toklarija has taken the concept of slow food to the penultimate conclusion: long meals. This is really fabulous if you're not in the middle of nowhere, driving on country roads with no light in a rental and the only two people in the restaurant. Basically we loved the food, it was fantastic. The suckling pig was truly that: a suckling.... More
