Ploughman' Lunch

In spite of a rather scathing (not to say hyperbolic) review, I tried the pub's ploughman'a lunch. I found it a delightful light lunch, coupled with the Rum Swizzle (I couldn't resist), and a perfect touch on a warm sunny day. While I would not dare to claim to be a ploughman'a lunch connoisseur... read more

When choosing 5 stars (or bubbles?) for this review trip advisor asked if this was one of the best meals I ever had in a restaurant and it really was. Prepare to hear about our meal in horrific detail. As a warning I only have glowing things to say below so if you would rather have a quick thumbs up... More

Can't speak authoritatively about ploughman's lunches in the rest of the hemisphere, but the one my wife and I shared today, along with a locally-brewed draft was exactly right, capping our visit to the Naval Dockyard. Altogether a pleasant experience.

Whatever happened to traditional ploughman's lunch..... a firm favourite Please go back to the original ploughmans that the Frog & Onion were renowned for.... crusty bread (not the half baked, pale, limp version served) chunk of cheddar (not baby sized cubes) GET RID OF THE SCOTCH EGG it is the most disgusting, worst scotch egg ever serve slice pork pie... Oh Dear. The Western Hemisphere is an awfully large area spanning half the globe, so you must be a world traveler of prodigious proportions to have eaten in every authentic Pub in the Western Hemisphere to make such a damning statement! (wink). We did just have a menu change, so perhaps our Chefs got creative with the dish to ensure... More

Might look like a tourist trap - but it's a real live English pub. It's awesome. Excellent decor, great beers, clean environment and friendly staff. Go for the beef pie. It's got a super awesome flakey crust on top; and the chips are amazing. Definitely a must visit if your spending the day at the dockyard.

So glad you hit the nail on the head on what we see ourselves as, an AUTHENTIC pub. Our food isn't all highfalutin' and fancy, it is good, made from scratch, comfort food! We look forward to welcoming you back. Regards, Philip Barnett More

The place is inviting but there were so many different staff circling the table, we didn't know who was who. Food was okay. Seems like an average spot for lunch from a cruise ship...which we were not traveling on....

They brew their own beers here; 5 different types so there is something for all. A good atmosphere and a nice place to eat as well.

I'm afraid we only stopped for a drink, so I can't say much about the food. It is definitely worth a stop though, as the building is so interesting. We also enjoyed a nice chat with the bartender who helped us learn more about Bermuda.

This is a very nice pub located in the an old stone building within the dockyards. The large fireplace (I don't think its used these days) and "antique" appearing furniture give the place a comfortable feel. They brew there own beer here; I tried the pale ale and brown ale and thought both were excellent. The food was average. I... More

My wife and I stopped in the Frog and Onion for lunch during a visit to Bermuda in March 2015. Overall, the service was very good. The servers were polite and friendly and our meals were delivered promptly. This may well be because the cruise ship crowds weren't in yet so there weren't many patrons. The drink selection is very... More
