We had an early lunch thus seated with a tremendous view over the city. The food was quite decent, somewhat touristy but still good enough to say we enjoyed it. The portion size was impressive. One tip that I'd share is to understand the pork dish is actually " pork fat", over the beans. So if this is not your... More

As you come out of the exit from El Escorial and look towards the town there are two alleys with covered bridges linking the buildings... through the left hand one and up the steps and the main square is just above you (up to left a little and turn right). The restaurant itself is on the left but they have... More

My wife had a bad ankle and there is a parking garage under the square right across the street from the monastery. This is in more ways than one a very accessible place to go for a day trip out of Madrid. Also, if you look at the satellite imagery, this is a small town with a lot of high... More

After visiting El Escorial palace, we came upon Las Viandas on the main square. The airconditioning was very welcome, as was the welcome by Monica! The rest of the staff were very friendly and we were impressed by the table setting. We opted to order a la carte and we were not disappointed. My generous serving of salmon was perfectly... More

After touring El Escorial this restaurant close by the Monasterio offers a comfortable white table cloth dinning room with an English menu. The food was very good with large portions. Finished off with one of the best rice puddings ever

After exploring El Escorial and it's gardens for 4 hours, we were very hungry. Walking around the town, not knowing where to eat, we decided to ask a young lady where a good restaurant was. Without hesitation she said Las Viandas and gave us directions in Spanish. It was a lovely day, so we ate on the terrace under the... More

Good kitchen at reasonable prices. Very nice terrace, best in the area, in summer nights. Also good service. Except saturdays is not neccesary to make reservations.

Our hotel recommended this hotel and was spot on. The place was packed with local families boisterously pre-Christmas late lunching (as is normal) but the smiling head-waiter found us a table, organized an immediate house drink and a small tasting starter. The order was taken, a half bottle of Rioja and a bottle of water was poured. Some twenty minutes... More

Nice restaurant (with relaxing soft music if you stay inside) located on the small main square. Wide choice of dishes (and wines) just a little on the expensive side. Prices range between € 8 and 18 but if you want a light and not expensive lunch after visiting Escorial go for the fixed price menu (with limited choice of dishes)... More
