LOUD and average food

You would think they would have listened to the complaints about the noise level in their 1st restaurant but sadly no. The new location is bigger and louder and when the mariachi play, forget having any dinner conversations: ( food is just average. Service is just Ok . With all the Mexican food... read more

In a region full of Mexican restaurants, Costa Messa stands out. We have never been disappointed in the food, service, or price. For several years this was the only restaurant our extended family celebrated birthdays and anniversaries. Our kids have severe milk, fish, shellfish, and nut allergies. Costa Messa has always been willing and able to accommodate us.

We've enjoyed casual meals at both Costa Messa locations since they first opened in McAllen. The quality of food and service is the same at both locations and is very good--I cannot bring myself to say excellent. Since most visits lately have been to (new) North 10th location, my comments refer primarily to this location. The atmosphere is great big,... More

I got the Veracruz platter for take out. 14.99. In it is a taco in a red hard shell. I liked that. An enchilada with cheese (cheesy) and a huge chilli relleno. Sides were rice beans small lettuce salad with tomatoe and avocado. Huge meal for a little price. At least 2 meals. Happy hour is 3 to 7 meaning... More

I went to this restaurant with my brother & cousin. We had a short wait, during which time while we enjoyed inexpensive but very good drinks. The food was well worth waiting for, as it was very good and plentiful, and at reasonable prices. The service was great and all in all we had a fun meal with very good... More

The food here is great! The three salsas they bring with chips is spicy but great. We ordered a sombrero, caldo tlapeno and fajita tacos. Everyone loved the food. The fajita tacos were filled with a generous portion of fajita and topped with steak fries which was unexpected but awesome. The service was quick and friendly. We will definitely come... More

My family and I have been coming here for years. The food is great and the service is great. I come for their chips and salsas and I'd be happy with just that. My favorite dish... The botana. Yum!

Service excellent and fast! Very difficult to get fast service in McAllen on a weekday at noon, but Costa Messa managed to do it. Food excellent. Check also brought in a timely manner. They serve my favorite--chile relleno--many Mexican restaurants do not. Only problem was noise. My companion, a music teacher, looked around and attributed the noise to the general... More

On our visit to the Rio Grande Valley we wanted to enjoy authentic Mexican food. We both had the Mexican plate which included 2 burritos, a taco, a chalupa, rice and beans. Nachos and salsa were served while we waited for the meal. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. The price was just under $12 plus drinks. We... More

The portions will satisfy even the Lumberjacks of the family and taste is pleasing...although specializing in Mexican food there is a variety on the menu. If not too busy service is fine...kind of noisy at times when large groups are present. If you like a quiet place to eat this might not be it.
