My wife and I choose to try the Fried Shrimp at Palenque Grill on July 5th. We were very surprised to find the best fried shrimp either one of us could ever remember eating in the past. It was fried to perfection and must have just come from the gulf since it was so moist. We each had a "Top... More

I ate here for dinner while in the McAllen area for business. It was a late dinner so there was a band. Everyone seemed to like it. Music sounded good, but it was all in Spanish so I'm not really sure what they were singing. They serve you chips with salsa and beans when you show it. It's more of... More

Palenque is an amazing Northeast Mexico cuisine place, more authentic and true to the Mexican complex and labor intensive cuisine than any other restaurant in either side of the border; down to the heated tatemada salsa - which is the way that The Maker intended salsa to be had When you go, order Peinecillo which is a variation on the... I had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant and found it to be exceptional. I would most definitely return if I am ever in McAllen.

Was recommended that we come here by our hotel staff, and they couldn't have been more right. Everything here was authentic and delicious. Should have known it would be good by the larger number of locals and businessmen lining up to eat. Try a little of everything - the colorful margaritas are excellent. A real treasure.

This was our first visit. We went on a Friday evening and were seated immediately and within a minute, were served fresh warm chips with a wonderful bean dip and also a warm salsa. The atmsophere was very nice - linen table cloths, nice space between tables and warm lighting. We had a wonderful shrimp ceviche as an appetizer and beers... More

We go to Mcallen several times a year. This trip to Palenque Grill was a great experience. The food was awesome aside from my overly charred but still tasty vampiros. The server actually noticed that two of the plates came out without avocado (we had almost finished) and offered to get some for us, we refused as we were already... More
