We were treated to a two top in the kitchen. Actually in the kitchen area across from the counter where the chief placed the ready plates we we kept hearing "service" as a signal to the wait staff. Food was excellent. Fried artichoke hearts my favorite. Wines by the glass were fine. My wife had the beef tongue appetizer which... More

We spent a weekend in Marfa and discovered Cochineal on Friday night. We almost never eat at the same place twice when we are travelling but the food was so over the top we ate here Saturday night as well. We were with our Bernese Mountain Dog and ate outside in their courtyard seating area. My wife had a dish... More

Great fine dining restaurant in Marfa. Not well signed so you may walk right past it, but well worth the effort to find. Excellent selection on the menu with much thought put into the food they prepare. I had the chilaquiles which were excellent and the date pudding dessert was to die for! Indoor and outdoor seating.professional wait staff. Not... More

We brought our dog so we had to sit on the patio. Flies, flies, flies. My suggestion is sit inside or if you have to sit outside do it after it gets dark. It seems the Marfa flies calm down when it gets dark. Service was excellent and the menu was imaginative. Wine list was fun. The place itself has... More

For starters, try not to be in a rush because this is a relaxing experience. I always try to sample one from each dinner choice as the menu changes daily or weekly. A fine selection from salads to fish, poultry, and meats. The chef will also craft a wonderful vegetarian plate for you as well. And always save room for... More

I've had several meals here over the last few years, and it seems to get a little more disappointing each time. First there was a slight hassle, or at least some attitude about the reservation - adding a sixth person at late notice. For a table that turned out to seat six anyway. Service was indifferent. I know Marfa has... More

I experienced Cochineal for the first time in 2009 on the recommendation of a Marfa insider and was told I could not miss the date pudding...I am glad I didn't. Five years later I found myself back in Marfa and could not resist seeing if the date pudding still lived up to my expectations - it did. We tried many... More

since they lost our reservation, and then claimed we probably didn't make one, despite being shown the phone log. Pretty much of a "we're cool, and we don't give a crap attitude". I'm so ready for this Marfa is hip thing to be over. Streets roll up at 7.

Bring the bug spray & fly swatter if seated outside! The above sumarizes our experience. With temps approaching 100 degrees & being attacked by mosquitos & flies, we were told we could not be accommodated inside. It was impossible to enjoy our meal. We had to request bug spray; but that didn't stop the flies. We resorted to covering our... More
