The lovely couple that ran this place and owned the magical recipe are no longer able to continue. We visited this week and were disappointed that we would no longer have those fabulous fried pies.

Wanted to eat breakfast. Posted hours showed business is open from 7 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Saturday. We were in Marathon for 3 days (Mon - Wed). The business never opened. There wasn't a sign saying why they didn't open.

After recommendations from friends, this is the place to stop for breakfast each day. Great breakfast sandwiches and biscuits and sausage gravy! Take a few fried pies to go! They are the best!!

We need to stop for gas and lunch in Marathon before going to Big Bend. We had sandwiches in Shirley's Burnt Biscuit. Clean place, friendly and efficient staff, correct food.

We heard about this place on reviews read elsewhere, but had heard 'it was not the same' since taken over by new management or owners. The woman helping us was friendly enough, but the man making the biscuits and fried pies had the personality of a doorknob and just not a friendly vibe. Considering we were the ONLY people in... Biscuits & Gravy, Breakfast Sandwiches, Breakfast Tacos all homemade all good. The place is clean, the owners (husband and wife) are friendly and support their community.

We stopped for coffee and found a whole lot more. She makes great coffee but we then tried the biscuits n gravy. You can limit your diet to a half order, but a full order is enough for a meal. Before we left we decided to get some of her Fried Pies for the road. They came in many flavors... More

What a little treasure, lovely place and lovely people but especially lovely pies. We were touring texas in feb and we were told to visit here, so glad we did, we even detoured and called in on the way back from big bend for a couple more pies.

We drove to Shirley's Burnt Biscuit on our way out from Big Bend NP. We knew about their fried pies and were curious to try them. The ladies behind the counter were friendly and helpful. They have coffee, tea and fried (fruit) pies. I only drink "proper" espresso coffee and my eyes lit up when I saw the rather shiny... More
