Real Mexican food is a feast for the senses. From colorful peppers to the sounds of sizzling fajitas all the way to that incredible flavor. Each mouthful is just as much a result of the freshest ingredients as it is a result of the chef's expertise. Abuelo's offers diners the opportunity to experience real Mexican food, combining authentic, made from scratch classic dishes with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine. Our executive Chef Luis Sanchez has spent decades perfecting our menu, and we boast a wide selection of wood-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos or Abuelo's unique House Specialties (depending on your location). To compliment your meal, our expert bartenders are masters at crafting signature favorites, including a wide variety of margaritas and swirls. Whatever the occasion, we'll stop at nothing to make your time at Abuelo's a memorable dining experience.

The food is delicious and always fresh. They have the best queso in Texas! They have a variety of salsas but the green tropical is fantastic. We've always had excellent service.

Despite strong local appeal and past experience this Abuelo's was disappointing in terms of certain meals and beverage service: many of the dishes appeared to have a heavy cheese sauce; a house specialty, three Cozumel seafood burritos, had a lot of avocado but little seafood; the waitress brought 5 oz. glasses of wine when we ordered the 9 oz ones... I eat at Abuelo's at least twice a month and it's always very good. Even though our local restaurant has grown into a fairly large franchise, it still has a very locally owned "feel" to it. It's a Lubbock favorite and a must for the best Tex-Mex in town.

Abuelos is more than tacos and taquitos. Their seafood is wonderful, the service is outstanding and the chips with the three salsas are always worth 2 baskets. I love the spinach, I know! but it is so flavorful and different. There can be a wait, but the bar and patio are available. Do as we do, go early!

You would never guess that a Mexican restaurant would have such a fantastic grilled chicken salad with honey mustard dressing, jicama, golden raisins, etc., but Abuelos certainly does! I ordered the smaller portion of the salad since I wasn't very hungry but I was wishing I had ordered the larger size! We had a large table and service was decent.

This is a chain, but it originated here in Lubbock. The place is huge, with outdoor seating (unoccupied when we came here...it was summer in Lubbock, Meagan Fox weather, hot and unpleasant). The menu is also huge with anything tex-mex you can want. Opening chips were very light, with three salsas--the green was not the usual jalapeño blend, but with... More

Glad you enjoyed the salsas blended! That's a trick I'm just going to need to do more. :) Also, I'm glad you had a nice time with Steven. He's really such an awesome member of our staff -- I'll be sure to send along your compliments. Hope to see you back for more enchiladas and chile relleno! Best, Brad GM More

I have enjoyed dining at Abuelos for many years & expect to for many more!! There is a great variety of menu choices with seasonal specials I look forward to!! Thin, crisp tortilla chips with queso & several salsas is always a great way to begin your meal. Family favorites include grilled bacon-wrapped shrimp, shredded-beef filled chile rellenos, "Monterey &... More

Always a good place to eat - lots of menu choices and lots of seating (restaurant, bar, patio). Chips served with several sauces - mixing them is my preference. Portion sizes are large and the prices are reasonable.

I love mixing those sauces! And I'm glad to hear you love the menu options and our bar and patio, Lisa. Thanks for this awesome review, and we really hope to see you back a lot this summer! Best, Brad GM More

I'm from New Mexico and eat Mexican quite frequently. When I'm traveling it's always convenient to get Mexican food. I like this place but it's more texmex than anything. The plates a huge and the quacamole is always fresh. You won't be disappointed and it's been here a long time. It has a huge patio also.

Well! I was just so happy to bump into this! It sounds like you know your Mexican food, so to hear we're hitting the mark means a lot. I'll be showing this one to the team for sure. See you around! Best, Brad GM More
