Consistently outstanding sushi

Anytime that we go to Lubbock, it has to include a visit to Hayashi. We live in a town where there isn't good sushi available and so this is our treat when in Lubbock. We have always gotten the same thing, the chirasi, but it has never looked the same because it all depends on the sushi chef... read more

Fun atmosphere with pretty good sushi. You can't have the expectation of a coastal sushi restaurant, but if you enjoy sushi, this is the best in Lubbock!

I really enjoy Japanese food, and this place is slightly above average. The service is great, and the food is good but, my steak was a bit bland and the scallops and vegetables are tasty but chopped up like they were for a baby without teeth, but again they are delicious just presented in a poor manner and possibly ones... Lubbock has many Japanese restaurants and I pretty much like all Japanese but I left three stars as this is average. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere but not great! Taste, appearance, etc. was just average. It solved our hankering for Japanese but noir a place we are dying to get back to. Cant complain about anything but can't brag... More

Sushi let alone any seafood that is a full days drive away from the nearest body of salt water, is usually what you would expect it to be. Hayashi however seems to find a way to receive daily fresh product and it shows in their plating. Hayashi is following the same trend however so many other US strip mall sushi... More

I've never eaten here for their grill menu, but I've had sushi here several times. It is by far the best sushi option in Lubbock. They have a good mix of traditional sushi selections, as well as some fusion and commercial options with a Texas flair.

The hibachi tables have comfortable chairs. Be sure to either make reservations or go before 6 PM. There could be a wait especially on Saturday evening. I ordered the shrimp and filet combo, my husband likes scallops so he had the scallops and filet combo. The dinner comes with a salad and miso soup, rice and grilled veggies. There was... More

The fish, and I mean every single piece ( we shared over 10 species) was as tasty & fresh as our favorite places in DC & NYC. Period. So, OK, the rice was dry , but I reckon , b/c we arrived @ 2:30 pm , that we got the bottom of the pot. What to do? Simply order sahimi!
