I took my sons out for lunch. My bill was $29.18. They charged $291.18. They maxed my card at $207 and I paid the$29.18 with another card. The manager owner? Prob has food managment but no public relations at all. I wasted a whole day trying to prove my point while he didn't even offer me a drink of water.... More

We were driving through Lubbock on a Saturday morning and found this spot through Trip Advisor. These are not the best breakfast burritos in the world, but they are delicious and filling and easy to eat on the road. And two burritos for $7 is hard to beat. I had the potato and egg, which was heavy on potato, but... More

By the time we we received our food, I was prepared to give Picantes a four. But, that is where the meal went south. The food wasn't the problem. The food was very good. The service is what lowered their score, overall. I ordered lemon with my drink. I did not get it. The waitress disappeared and was unseen for... More

In Boston it's baked beans, in Annapolis it's steamed crabs. In Lubbock, TX the every day local favorite is Mexican cooking. Most of the good eateries are small, locally owned with one of the family members usually on the premises to greet you as you walk in. Eating out with either family, or friends usually starts with "where?" and Picantes... More

Wow!! Again this place amazed me!! I love it. It is so authentic. The food is amazing. Anyone who wants to eat real food from Mexico, go to Picante's. They make true enchilada sauce. It is not your typical tomato sauce or chili bean sauce (places that sell GRAVY should be closed down!). Please go by and visit this place... More

We ate here yesterday for the first time. The waitress, lety, seemed to be the only waitress working , which left us waiting for quite some time for menus and drinks. Once other patrons were taken care of, we had pretty good service from her. She recommend the special of the day; a burrito with chicken fajita meat smothered in... More

Picantes must be known for the humongous burritos. The carnage asada is our favorite. Their enchiladas are another favorite. This is authenic Mexican food. Service is fast. Prices are in line with other Mexican food places in town. Staff is attentive and friendly.

I had the carnitas plate while my partner had the steak plate. It was good and tasty, although my reheated carnitas smelled a little off...reheated pork/lard tends to smell. I wished I had gone for the stewed pork in red sauce. I asked the waitress for a recommendation between the two and she chose the carnitas. The complimentary chips and... More

Was looking all over Lubbock for a restaurant that served gorditas, and this was the only place that did (as far as I know). The meat was really good and with the right amount of spices. Rice and beans were flavorful and were a good combination with the main course. Salsa was more tomato-based, but good overall, and the service... More
