After doing some research, we decided on Chisholm Trail for supper. Several of the other BBQ restaurants in the area were not open on Sunday. The sides were tasty! The meat was tender and flavorful! There was a lot of room for big families. The decor and furniture were old, but the food made up for that! Great value, too!!!

Went to eat lunch at Chisholm Trail on Father's Day. That was a mistake because everyone in Lockhart was trying to eat BBQ that day. Line was out the door so we drove through. We had brisket and sausage with beans and potato salad. It was great and we enjoyed the food. The smoke flavor was good and the bark... More

Lockhart is the BBQ capitol of Texas. There are several different BBQ restaurants in this sleepy little town. If you read my review of Black's BBQ, I'm going to say the same thing: I like BBQ but am NOT an expert. So, they all taste good to me! If you are a northerner (which I am by birth!) and have... More

Think again! I was talkin' to an old timer who had spent his whole life in Lockhart, and, of course the conversation turned to barbeque. He asked where we usually ate, and I said Black's. He laughed and said, "Thought so. Black's is for the tourist trade. Locals know that the place to go is Chisholm Trail for good barbeque... More

For folks that live in Lockhart, this is a favorite hometown restaurant -- reasonable prices, very good barbecue, yummy peach cobbler, a variety of "sides," and friendly folks behind the counter. You can always count on Chisholm Trail BBQ to be busy at meal time, so be ready for long lines at noon and evening time. There is also the... More

There's a reason Chisholm Trail BBQ doesn't show up on all those travel shows. Floyd (owner) focuses on giving locals what they want. Great food at an affordable price. Lots more sides available than at the other places. Awesome sausage, great brisket, and great specials (chicken fried steak, fried catfish, chicken & dumplings, and more -- available on certain days).... More

The barbecue was well prepared, the sausage was flavorful. The pea salad was excellent. The prices were very reasonable. Be sure to try the homemade bread, it was some of the best I have ever eaten. The only problem was the line moved at a snails pace. If we weren't so hungry we would have left and missed a very... More

This is our 3rd trip to Lockhart to try all 4 famous BBQ places. We have eaten at Black's and Kreuz' and Black's is still holding on to #1! The 1/4 white chicken and brisket had a good smokey flavor. The sauce tasted almost fake to me, not sure why, but that's the best descriptive word I could come up... More

I love Chisholm Trail BBQ - the salad bar, the brisket and the sweet tea. The ham sandwich is delish as well. My favorite place.
