Three of us ate at the Hitch-N-Post tonight. All of us agreed that the brisket and sausage tasted like authentic Texas BBQ, the kind we love with a deep, smokey flavor. The sides were every bit as good as the BBQ. The baked beans were seasoned with pieces of smoked brisket, and the homemade potato salad is as good as... More

Stopped by for lunch with friends in town for a visit. I decided to try the hamburger, since I usually have brisket. Gotta tell you, the hamburger was excellent. May be the best in Polk County. Everyone else had sliced beef. Must have been good, they eat everything on their plates. Come on by and visit with Sheriff Billy Ray.

I ate here this week with a group. There is a choice of eating on an outdoor deck or an small air conditioned building. The owners were delightful to meet and enjoyed telling us about their smoking process. I had the brisket/sausage combo plate and sampled a dinner mate's rib plate. Absolutely the best I've ever had - an opinion... More

One of the biggest and best chicken fried steak sandwiches in the state. Get it fully loaded with all the veggies and order a cup of white gravy to pour over or dip in. Also, the deserts are home cooked and worth a try, especially if it is coconut cream pie.

Stopped by for lunch with family from out of town. Turned out everyone enjoyed there BBQ. They are east coast people so this was a real treat for them. They already requested we come back here next time they are in town. This is a hidden treasure.

Truth be told my hubby & I were looking for another place and just couldn't find it. The second time we drove by this place I said "that's it- I am starving- we are eating here". I am REALLY glad we did. My hubby got a cheeseburger and fries (as always) and I got the pork ribs. I also ordered... More

It took us forever to find this place which is located outside of Livingston, TX. But the reviews seemed to justify the effort. We arrived soon after noon on a Friday. Where do I begin? I had the chicken and dumplings which tasted better than they looked. I know... why chicken and dumplings at a BBQ place? I like them,... More

Picturesque location with oldfashioned decoration, operated by a friendly owner. Very good BBW for a moderate price!

This place turns out some wonderful bbq! I was so glad to see them recognized by Texas Monthly magazine. Just a quaint little place with some good food always served with a smile. There is a different home made dessert every day and thursday is chicken and dumplings. The poison ivy is layers of good stuff like fritos chopped beef... More
