Stopped Sunday after church. Not many there so we thought a quick lunch. Wrong.....Wife ordered Turkey and dressing with Broccoli and cheese, potatoes and gravy. I chose the ham also with the broccoli and candied yams. Meal came with salad bar. We picked up our salads. Typical prepared sides. OK nothing special. Would bet they came already prepared as the... We were actually on our way to another restaurant when we saw how packed this restaurant was at 8:45 am in the morning on a Saturday. We are able to find a parking spot. Then as our group walked in we saw signs that said Wifi and Trip Advisor on the door. All four of us ordered coffee, and asked... More

I recently dined at Charlie's for the first time after some friends repeatedly bragged on it. My visit was about 8:30 for breakfast. I've passed the place hundreds of times going up Highway 59 and never really paid much attention. It's not much to look at from the outside. And frankly, it's the same inside. Very dated interior. But this... More

They usually have great service and great food. The last few times the service has been slow and the food subpar. Last time the eggs were a little greasy and the biscuits were hard as a rock. I let them know and Charlie was glad that I said something. He's a nice guy that likes the truth. This place is... More

We had death in family, and he offer his favorite place. It was good, but don't have a lot of the bells and whistles. But, grits didn't seems to be seasoned properly or seasoned at all. All the food looked really good. They are really busy, so they must have good food, and I must have terrible taste buds. I... More

We had breakfast here - pancakes, eggs, bacon and biscuits. The biscuits are excellent. Large serving size for the money. Service is pretty slow but why be in a hurry in Livingston ? There is a smoking and non-smoking section in the restaurant.

My dad and I pulled in here seeking refuge during a sudden Texas thunderstorm and were delighted to find a warm and inviting diner. From the outside, you could miss it,as it is tucked next to an old service station. But on the inside it has ample seating and a host of friendly people eager to serve and assist. A... More

the owner is almost always in the restaurant greeting regulars by name and making everyone feel welcome. Food is warm and tasty. A place where can sit a spell and visit with your friends and neighbors.

We'd heard from friends that Charlie's was a great place to eat, but I was hesitant of the truck stop appearance. When we finally stopped here for dinner one evening, we were quite surprised. My husband and I opted for a chicken-fried night (the cholesterol specials!), even trying CF bacon for the first time, as an appetizer. We also had... More

Don't let the truck stop look fool you! The interior is bright and clean although the ordor of thesmoking side does spill over. The service was slow but expected for a roadside stop. The people where friendly and the food, when it finely arrived was servered hot and tasty.
