No Beer?

It was the Tuesday after Memorial Day and Leakey was pretty much asleep. We defaulted here for dinner and the food was good. But no beer. Because the rest of the town was "closed" the place was fairly busy, but the service was good.

Had lunch at Mama Chole's & it was awesome. Great service & great food! Homemade tortillas, great chicken enchiladas! Would go back in a minute.

Every year we camp down on the Frio and every year we make a trip into Leakey to eat at Mama Chole's. Very local, family owned vibe- good traditional Mexican food and reasonable prices.

I've eaten here often and never felt disappointed. I've only eaten the cheese enchiladas and the carne guisada. I will go back.

Always a favorite when traveling to the Frio River! Our visit would not be complete with Mama Chole's. My favorite is the Sue Taco, but everything is good. Love the salsa there. :)

We were looking for a place to eat for a party of 8. The place is small, but sitting us wasn't a problem. The food was homemade and good. Our waitress was very quick and efficient.

Three couples had some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. The Carne Guisada plate was delishous and the same beef was used for the burrito. The flour tortilla chips were a welcome surprise to the usual tough corn chips. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this restaurant, but the waitress works hard to please everyone.

These people really know what they are doing. We frequent this place whenever we are in the area. Family friendly, they have THE BEST cheese enchiladas in all of TEXAS!!

I have to say that I was not impressed with Mama Chole's. I ordered fajita chicken quesadillas which consisted of boiled chicken, onion and a consistency of cheese which appeared to be Cheese Whiz between flour tortillas. My friend ordered a burrito dish which appeared to be more an enchilada dish than a burrito. The one waitress spent a great... More

Being from San Antonio and having alot of Mexican dining choices I was wary of mama choles! However, I ordered Dave's special burrito plate and it was quite good. I especially like their tortilla chips and salsa, I'm partial to thick cut chips and a chunky salsa. I will be going back! I would consider a rating of 5 but... More
