We stopped here while passing through Lampasas on Friday afternoon. The place was packed! As BBQ joints in Texas go, this one left a lot to be desired. The brisket had tons of fat on it, probably about a half pound of fat I had to cut off! The meat did not taste like it had any seasoning or rub... More

We decided to take the "backway" from Dallas to San Antonio and found ourselves at Hart's Firehouse BBQ at lunchtime. They are in the middle of adding to their dining room and adding an indoor bathroom. We were skeptical at first because we didn't immediately smell smoke from the pits. That went away once we stepped inside. My wife and... More

We had brisket sandwiches and a stuffed potato. The chopped brisket was tender with great flavor and not greasy. The sauces were just ok. They were out of the stuffed jalapeños when we stopped and we did not order sides. The bathroom is outside, but they are adding on and might change.

The brisket is wonderful, but call to see what sides they have. They run out of a lot of things quickly. I would recommend this place though.

I always look for the small town BBQ "joint" on my cruises. I stopped on a Sunday afternoon, and while the food was not exceptional, I found it acceptable. The two meat plate I ordered with sausage and sliced brisket had ample servings. The sausage was average. The brisket was thin sliced (not one or two thick chunks) with a... More

Me and my husband stopped here on our way to Austin thinking BBQ would be a semi healthy and harty option. The staff was mildly friendly however right off the bat I was appalled by that fact that the turkey sandwich I just ordered was being microwaved!! The sandwich came with no sides so I added beans and corn bread.... More

It looks like a nice enough place with nice outdoor seating under large trees, but the food was forgettable. I had the brisket and it was flavorless. The bbq sauce was just plain gross, thin and watery and had too much vinegar. And on top of that it was expensive for what I got. It is convenient but that is... More

The "loaded" baked potato was just that! Loaded with butter, cheddar, sour cream, and chopped brisket. One of the best loaded potatoes I've ever had in my 75 years! My husband's brisket was rather dry, but that's what happens when you get lean meat. By the way, there was NO fat in my chopped brisket which topped my potato. Jst... More
