What a great place this continues to be. They enlarged their place about 2 years ago, and have kept the same great freshly cooked items. I don't know how many kolaches they cook a day, but I've never found one I didn't like! Today we went for lunch and had their 'porker' sandwich. It's pulled pork, a bit of slaw,... More

My favorite kolache stop between Austin and Houston. Especially fond of the "pocket"-style poppy-seed kolaches, though the fruit ones are very good, too. The sausage kolaches are fine, but I think the ones at the rival roadside kolache stop in Ellinger might arguably be slightly better.

I was asked by several friends to stop at this bakery for their kolaches. It was late evening before we could visit, so I was expecting it to be closed. It's part of a large travel center which never closes. Although I was unable to get freshly baked goods at this late hour, I bought a package of cinnamon rolls... More

The kolaches at Weikel's are among the best that I have ever had. The cinnamon rolls with raising and pecans were magic. I recommend any of the fruit kolaches especially if they have cream cheese thrown in for good measure. They are a tad bit pricey but you won't remember that after you bite into one of them. I almost... More

Last trip from Austin to Houston, we tried the place in Ellinger, and it was fine. This time we figured we'd give the competition a whirl, and boy was I glad we did! Weikel's will be the new standard stop on this trip. The kolache were light-years better, the dough was heavenly. The poppy seed filling just perfect. Also had... More

We stopped here on our way to Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham. It was a quick convenience stop, left my aunt & baby in the car and was in and out in 5 minutes. The kolaches are fabulous - my personal favorite, the one with cream cheese & strawberries. YUM!

Weikel's Bakery on Highway 71 has some of the best kolaches in Texas! It's well worth the stop. It's also a great place to stop on the way between Austin and Houston.

Great selections of Kolaches. I ordered the cherry cream and poppyseed. The bakery is located inside a gas station along with a deli station. The deli station made great fresh sandwiches also. I ordered a philly cheese sandwich.

As soon as you can you need to stop by Weikel's. Don't worry about how to pronounce the name when you get inside and taste a fruitfilled kolache or pocket the name won't worry you except to remember where it is. Yeah, while you're there you can get many other things convenience stores have but remember to keep the main... More

I love this place. It's just a good thing it's too far away for me to get to easily, but I never miss it when traveling anywhere near LaGrange, TX. I can't say anything about their food, although it's a very popular place to eat, but I must tell you that they make wonderful baked goods in the Czech tradition.... More
