Good Catfish

Food is pretty good; for some reason, it used to be better. Service is fine — what you find almost everywhere in Kerrville.

Fried food seems to be highest on the agenda here, but that being said, my fried oysters were very good. No one should leave hungry, as the plates are really full of food. Not the place to eat if you are on a diet. Nothing fancy about this place - it´s one big room with old-fashioned tables and chairs scattered... More

My husband made a good choice for his Father's Day lunch. We received LaFour's usual good, friendly service. We were greeted when we entered, and allowed to select our own table. Dave loves mushrooms, so he selected the fried mushroom appetizer. He followed the mushrooms with their crab cakes, accompanied by fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, and pinto beans. Naturally,... We had fried oysters and fried alligator. Both were well-prepared and quote tasty. Significantly, for fried foods, neither had any hint of greasiness. The service was generally good, although we apparently got caught in some kind of server vacuum at the beginning of the Saturday evening rush; no dessert pitch and slow delivery of the check.

Having lived in New Orleans for three years, I am picky about my sea food. This restaurant represents the Crescent City well

OK, I have to say this in hope the owner's of LaFours will "wake up". When Mom and Dad LaFour opened their humble but delish restaurant well over 30 years ago there was long lines standing with your name on a wait list just to get in. Food was good then, very good. Lots of shrimp in the Gumbo. Pinto... More

We use to hit LaFour's every time we were in town. The last time we ate there it was like they skimped on the shrimp, they were not as tasty as they once were and they were a lot smaller. Very disappointing. I doubt we return, too many changes. We did go last year and waited to see if things... More

First off, the service here is terrific. It is a family-owned restaurant with the emphasis on family. It also has the feel of a locally-owned, non-chain establishment. That said, not sure I really liked the food. I think people are very picky about their gumbo. I'm used to a fragrant roux with big chunks of seafood, large shrimp and oysters.... More

This is a great place to dine if you like or want to try cajun food! Great tastes, ample portions, all the great treats without the travel! Take your mate or your family.
