I'm not often a catfish eater so I can't rightly judge the Big Pines Lodge main offering. It was good, not at all "fishy". But the hushpuppies are probably the best I've ever had. "Extruded" in long tube shapes, highly spiced with jalapeno and seasonings ... I could have made a meal on them. The setting of the restaurant is... More

Wonderful place to relax on the porch and enjoy the evening sun while having dinner. Good service, good price and all round good experience.

We loved it here. The staff was great. The service was great. We sat on the patio with a great view of Caddo Lake. You see the steamboat coming through and unloading and picking up ppl to take the tour. Water skiers and tubers going across. It is very relaxing and casual.

My food was horrible, the manager is a butt and very rude to the employees and customers. Had to send food back more then ones. So did the table behind us. What happened to the old Big Pines?? The only thing decent about this place is the location!

The tour guide with Turning Basin Riverboat Tours in Jefferson, TX suggested Big Pines Lodge as a great place to eat. I called first to see if we needed a reservation. I was told that two wouldn't be a problem but large groups would need a reservation. I ordered the 5 fillet catfish plate which was the same price as... More

We've been to Big Pines four times since it was rebuilt, usually bringing out of town friends. The first we ordered whole fish and filets, and the food was outstanding. The next time they had a buffet - the food was good, hot, and plentiful, with good desserts. Unfortunately, the ice cream machine was out of order. The third time... More

Typical country cooking. We had chicken fried steak, fried catfish.. The very best thing was hush puppies. Omg, they looked much like a funnel cake. We'll go back for those for sure! You get free ice cream for dessert too. This place is a long the river and very scenic.

Based on the recent reviews here, my husband and I decided to visit this restaurant on "Terrific Tuesday" during our week long stay in the area. We arrived to find the restaurant CLOSED on Tuesday. A quick check of the website and I found that apparently they have changed it to "Terrific Thursday". We were hungry and disappointed. Lesson learned:... More

We were just here for the 2014 Labor Day weekend. Since we were staying in our own cabin we brought plenty to grill out with but knew we were going to eat here at least once. The place looks new and I'm told it is because they rebuilt from a fire a few years ago. Their super long dock for... More

We got a warm welcome when we walked in and just went straight to load up on hush puppies and fried everything. Considering the alternative (going hungry) it was worth the drive from our cabin. We stopped in to take a couple of Arnold Palmers (half sweet tea, half lemonade) on the deck while we were waiting for the Graceful... More
