We had a nice meal here all said, but the restaurant doesn't quite seem to know how to be what they want to be. The atmosphere is serene and upscale looking, but with old linens and tired plating, it misses the mark on upscale. The menu is split on traditional fare and Mexican, but it seems to fall a bit... After many years of dinning at Via Real, it keeps getting better. That is unsual I think in this day and time. Either money runs out to maintain a restaurant or staff and chef get tired. Not at all the way it is at this restaurant. Great upkeep inside and out, service is the best..Diago is awesome.. And food is... More

Via Real provides great Mexican food beyond the typical chips + dip, tacos and fajitas. All dishes were perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. I enjoyed the bronzed grouper along with its signature sauces. One thing I liked was that the dishes were lightly sauced to allow savoring of the meat and fish.

I brought my other half here for his birthday and requested that the Carrot cake with happy birthday written around the plate be presented at the end of our meal. Not only did we get that lovely tasting cake on the house!! There was also a complimentary picture taken at the end which was put in a thank you/happy birthday... More

Excellent food, nice decor, attentive staff. Too bad we couldn't repeat the experience - the restaurant was closed for a staff training and meeting.

I've gone to eat here for several years, and the quality of the food has always been very good. The atmosphere is the best and the drinks are good.

I've been eating here for 30 years (?) yet never thought to review it. Hadn't been in a while but just had lunch there and was reminded how dependably good it is. Upscale southwestern atmosphere, great service, food never disappoints. Today I had chicken breast with cilantro cream sauce and wonderfully fresh vegetables; my companion had black bean ravioli. I recently took some out of town visitors to Via Real and we were impressed. The service and food were great as usual and I always enjoy the upscale decor and ambiance. The drinks are awesome and the menu has something for everyone including traditional favorites as well as more authentic Mexican dishes. Will definitely return soon.

The atmosphere is very nice. I wouldn't necessarily call this gourmet mexican. It was more tex Mex with a lot of steaks and chicken on the menu. I expected more traditional items on the menu; tamales, mole' etc.....
