Good breakfast buffet at reasonable price. This was recommended by our hotel front desk as a good local place and we enjoyed it.

This is a great spot in Irving/Los Colinas that while here for years continues to evolve without loosing its DNA. If you haven't been here in awhile there is no smoking now. They have working hard at updating their look and yet the food is as comfortable as comfort can be. I have a hard time not eating pork chops... More

A tremendous breakfast buffet for just $8.99. The omelet bar was exceptional, the biscuits & gravy were excellent, and the selection far exceeded the price. Coffee is expensive ($2.29 for a cup??), but the low cost of the buffet helped make up for it. One of the best breakfasts I've had in awhile. Certainly recommend to friends.

Went for a late lunch and was greeted and seated fairly quickly. I ordered the New Orleans Red beans. It tasted reheated and had no flavor. The pork chop was paper thin as well. My bf ordered the shrimp platter. You could tell the shrimp had been sitting out under a heater and the fries weren't fresh either. Needless to... More

Use to love the great breakfast buffet (along with other meals), but today was sadly disappointed. Nite to kitchen - hot food should be served hot. Make sure your warmers are properly functioning. There should be no comparison when it comes to Po Melvin's buffet and Grandy's buffet, but today Grandy's would have won.

This place serves in large quantity good and healthy food without much of taste boosting accompaniments. The dishes are therefore just for the American taste buds looking for cheap and healthy lunch/dinner.Most of the customers sre old timers but overall I enjoyed the dinner.

This is why I go back, Service excellent, Even when packed you never see people sitting at table waiting for food. Fried pickles are some of the best I have ever had. Not sure what/how they fry their food but it is not greasy and is one of the reasons I can gorge on those fried pickle chips. Po Boy... More

Eaten at Mel's many years. Always fresh hot and clean here. This is a meat or entree & 3 vegetables plate lunch cafe. Fresh breads and rolls. We love the jalapeno cornbread, soups such as Gumbo or Chicken/ Dumplins. Great fried fish. Homestyle fresh cut fries. Man thank you Mel!

Rich, flavorful gravy, generous amount of chicken and the dumplins are NOT gummy!! Yay! 3 vegs along side with "standard issue" dinner rolls - 8.99. Good value + good flavor = Win. (The collards are seasoned and cooked perfectly)
