I was surprised by the quality of the food at this place. Coz the places looks really dingy and shabby so I was apprehensive to try it at first. But I am glad I did give it a shot. I like their north indian food even more than the south indian variety. If you love the indian style yogurt, this... More

Afraid to try Indian food, because you have no idea what to order? Well, Udipi Cafe (Highway 6, west of US 59) is a great place to start. This is South Indian Vegetarian food, but of all of the people I bring here, I am the only one that's even halfway vegetarian, ha ha. Great Food! If you have ever... More

Udipi's cafe now have four small restaurants in the Houston / Sugar Land area, and this one I visited today is on Hillcroft have been busy for several years. It's the first time I've been here for a couple of years. The buffet is very small, but I came for the Dosa, which are always very good. Actually, for $10,... More

I had very good reviews from my friend about Cholle-Bathure of Udipi. So disappointed for me. It was already struck somewhere in my mind, how can South-Indian afe can serve quality Cholle Bathure. Anyhow, Cholle was so pathetic. I also ordered idli sambhar. Sambhar made me upset too. It was bad day for me.

The buffet spread was good and all items were vegetarian. You get a hot masala dosa served that comes with the buffet.. good pakoras.. most chutneys were good.. sambhar was just ordinary.. Also, it was pleasant to see a good mix of of north and south indian food on the buffet. It was around $8. We did not order off... More

I will venture a guess that no one has been treated as nicely as I today. I was there for a UYE (Unofficial Yelp Event). The owner Satish Rao greeted me and then proceeded to bring me my lunch from the buffet. I requested him to help me stand up which he did. We walked down the buffet and he... More

This place, and its sister restaurant two doors down, the Krishna Chaat House, is slightly higher than another nearby favorite, but not much. But Udipi is not burning hot, although it is nicely spicy, so that's a plus for Americans whose palates have not acclimated to Indian spices fully. This is a buffet line, but the employees bring your chai... More

Situated at one of the busiest intersections in the city (59 South and Hillcroft Avenue), it was just starting its lunch rush when I arrived at 1120 AM. The pure vegetarian lunch buffet runs $7.99 from 11 AM -3 PM. Warmly welcomed, the buffet offers at least 25 vegetarian options which are refreshingly non-frou frou for omnivores like me. The... outside were blaring sounds of something they were trying to sell....the parking lot was a bit daunting, but once inside, the very indian atmosphere was great. no frills here, just great food. we did the buffet, and although , a few things looked the same, for the price, this was great. i love indian food and it is hard to...
