Surprisingly Varied for a BBQ Place

After a theatre matinee, about eleven of us headed over to Beaver's, which has the reputation of being a bbq joint. However, we were all surprised at the variety of offerings on the menu. My wife and I headed here after visiting St. Arnold's brewery (worth checking out!). We ended up ordering the queso starter, with the meat added - this was a mistake. Queso was a bit thinner than I'm used to (more the consistency of soup than dip) and the meat didn't add much to the dish other than another $6. My... More

The menu looked creatively appetizing. Ordered the smoked Bone-In Chicken breast and it was so dried out it wouldn't even qualify for jerky. The slaw was tasteless. The toast was stale and cold. The service was stale too. No one seemed interested in the customers, water refills were not happening, and beer orders took 10 minutes. Restrooms are tighter than... More

One of the best and most reasonable meals we had in Houston. We were a group of 10 people and we were served like we were the only ones there. The smoked meat sampler at $17 was a feast for two people. The brisket was to die for. The waitresses we had were well humored and quick with the quips.... More

Try the brisket sandwich. It's a meal and then some. The BLT leaves you wanting more. Overall good location, atmosphere and food.

My boyfriend's house is in walking distance to Beaver's so we have frequented here a handful of times. We've gone for drinks, lunch, and dinner. While there are times we probably go more because of the convenience factor, I also enjoy the location- little bit off the busy Washington Ave chaos. We've also lucked out with getting served by some... More

This place has an interesting menu and you better show up hungry because the portion sizes are huge. It has a fun atmosphere that's good for groups and loud parties. the drink menu is fun and the names are all unique. I thought the food was really good and the service was decent.

Being from out of town some work colleagues took me here for lunch and it was really tasty. The Antelope burger with fries was excellent and the "beaver balls" for dessert are just bad for you in so many good ways. That and a corn dog appetizer put the bill around $35 - $40. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly,... More

Dropped in after a Texan game - We had the wings to start with though they were good the hot is way to spicy and believe me my husband likes spicy food. I choose the Grill Cheese with Smoked Spicy Tomato Soup. I asked about the "Spicy" part of the soup and the bartender indicated that it had just a... More

We went on a sunday for lunch. It was quite disappointing. Only a few beers from the tap and the only one i liked wasn't available coz they ran out. We ate mac'n cheese which had no flavor at all. It was just pasta in sauce without any salt and pepper. Same as the huge chicken sandwich. I will avoid... More
