I didnt have much expectation when inviting a friend to meet me at this West Houston Restaurant! What a wonderful place! Steeped in Texas History, Wonderful architecture, recreating the old Southern Plantation home look. The menu is delightful, with an astonishing selections of tasty entrees and sides. The service is prompt and attentive and quite nice! I highly recommend the... More

Took my colleagues to lunch. As a native Texan the atmosphere is amazing, warm and historical. The service was excellent better than expected in a high end restaurant. We ate ordered off the lunch menu. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Will definitely go back.

From the moment my fiancé and I walked in till we walked out the door they went above and beyond in every facet of excellence in dining. We were greeted by the owner who not only welcomed us but took the time to tell us about Texas history and made us feel like family. His actions set the tone for... More

I like the Steamboat House restaurant. The lobby and throughout the restaurant you can find all kinds of interesting Texas memorabilia and the lunch menu is very complete. While eating there I've always had the impression I'm dining with the movers and shakers in Houston's oil & gas industry. It's that kind of place. Unfortunately, I'm not a huge fan... More

This restaurant is a good choice to expierience some American history. There is nice display from several items linked to the last 200 year in the USA. Food is good to excellent and service is excellent. Prices are correct for this style restaurant in the US.

It was so good we came back a second night. The Bison filet was excellent and you absolutely have to try the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer(s) , grilled and fried are wonderful.

Steamboat House is part restaurant and part museum. Very good selection on the menu but it is pricey. Service was excellent. The main dining room was very noisy and it could be challenging to have a conversation if you're there when it's full. Take a few minutes to look at the paintings, pictures, flags and other historical documents on the... More

Truly an amazing lunch experience. The restaurant is more than just a restaurant, its a Houston History Museum..!! The food was excellent, seabass, shrimp cocktail and crab cakes, all very good, and so was the service. I note that others have have various experiences, but I can truly say that we had a first class meal in a first class... More

Was a first time visit to the Steamboat house as part of a work dinner. Setting is really cool - history of the place is a highlight from all the paintings and memorabilia - really cool. Service was very good - our waiter took good care if us. Hate to say it but the food, at least mine, was not... More

This place is consistently inconsistent. One time you go, the food and service is great, the next time food is still good, service is marginal, next time the service horrific. First experience: Had lunch with 15 coworkers during prime Holiday season in December. ..Awesome experience! Ordered from the dinner menu, appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts all arrived as they should... More
