Drove by a month or two ago, still "Closed for Remodeling"... Unless there is some sort of difficult legal problem, or a serious issue like mold, asbestos, etc., it's hard to figure out why it would be sitting unworked on for so long. A lot of reviews from before it closed make me really sad. My ex and I used... More

Best chicken fried steak in the world. Fantastic huge menu for everyone. But, has been closed and sign says for renovations. I hope it reopens soon!

Mama's Cafe is perfect for soup and sandwich with a friend. The food is tasty and good value. It has been closed for months for remodelling and I am not sure when it will reopen. I hope it will be soon.

Not sure what is going on at Mama's Cafe. It's unfortunate as it is one of the staples of Houston -- a restaurant that has been around for years. Good old fashion diner that is open 24/7. My only thought is that they weren't breaking even. It's located on prime real estate on Westheimer, so maybe with staying open 24... More

Mama's Cafe is closed. It is supposed to re-open after some remodeling, but I haven't seen much progress. I hope it returns soon.

We visited many, many times and were never dissapointed in the food or the service. Unfortunately, we understand that they have been bought-out by Pappa's and the future is unknown. We have heard about a renovation and also possible a teardown. What a loss!!

Try the mexican breakfasts. They come with tortillas. A hearty and delicious meal.

Had a dinner meeting in the back of the restaurant which was private and comfortable. Maybe the party of 25 people through the servers off, but dinner was slow in coming, and many of the orders were incorrect. One vegan guest was served a beef burger instead of a veggie burger. My husband had the trout filet, which was excellent,... More

Mammas has been around a long time. The stick to the ribs food gets a bit old and the recipes have as well. If your in the mood for meatloaf and heartburn great plan
