Even if I not really perceived as a classical Italian food restaurant, the chef's take on it is very, very good. The combinations included porto, foie gras, duck, rissoto with a touch of lemon, and fresh tuna. I tried four types of bread, and four different courses, and everything was delivered, hot, beautifully presented and tasted superbly. The wine list... More

I had been to Sorrento for lunch and the food and service was impeccable! What a different experience for dinner! Our reservation was for 7:30 p.m. and we did not get seated until almost 9:00. Our orders were placed quickly; the salads came fairly soon. Then, we waited and waited and waited, finally asking our waiter where our entrees were... More

Last night while working in Houston. I took a ride out this location to have dinner. The menu was ohhh so tantalizing! While I wanted the Osso Bucco not knowing when I would get back I decided on the Chef's Tasting Menu... First: Hand Crafted Braised Veal Osso Buco Ravioli. Second: Baby Heirloom Tomatoes, Burrata Di Bufala and Oliva Di... More

This a beautifully decorated serene restaurant. Very romantic with tables set apart and linen tablecloths. The noise level is very low. The live piano players adds the finishing touch. The wait staff provide exceptional service. Very well paced and relaxed. This is complemented by excellent food. As well as the food being excellent, the presentation is great. There is a... More

Dinner with adult family. Week night, so not too crowded. Food, service, atmosphere were all wonderful. Wine was excellent. It is not inexpensive, but you receive what you pay for.

The perfect business dinner but I would imagine this would be a great date as well. Amazing scallops. The service was just right. There was a piano player who was never too loud but added a wonderful tone to the evening. Easy to hear and talk.

We visited the Sorrento Ristorante in Houston with a party of six and all agreed that it was one of the best Italian restaurants in Houston. We were greeted warmly and made to feel special by all the staff - service was excellent. A few of us tried the chef's tasting menu, and all courses were delicious. Individual dishes were... More

The Historic Avondale District has more than it's share of absolutely great reastaurants. A few serve Sunday Brunch. This is the greatest of those. The venue is charming with white table cloths and lovely Italian Murals. The waitstaff is first class. A pianist plays on a lovely grandpiano. The food is first rate from Eggs Benedict to the tender eggs... More

Everything is special here: a huge basket of bread which is circulating is so large the server can barely hold it; a beautiful mural of Sorrento (tasteful) adorns one wall; a piano player who has just the right subtlety to enjoy without intefering with table talk-and a sense of humor perhaps he will riffinto the flintstones-he is thereon the weekends.a...
