We stopped in as we drove by, I had the carne guisada with white rice, black beans and maduros. We shared a tostones salad...I'm not gonna lie, the salad was my favorite thing the normal suspects were in play, lettuce tomatoes onions...but then they throw in bits of tostones and avocado and it gets tossed in the dressing which I... El Meson is located in the busy Rice Village area. It is a very pleasant Spanish-Cuban restaurant that seems to have a following in the upscale neighborhoods around the Texas Medical Center. I've dined here three times in the past 3 years, most recently a few days ago. Rather than ordering a Spanish meal, I've always stuck to one of... More

My husband and I found this place through the Internet that they are #1 in Paella, here in Houston,we've been in Costa brava and the one in Midtown and Pico's Tex Mex restaurants, We decided that the one in Midtown is the best one that we have tasted as good as in Spain and New Jersey restaurant that serve Paella, the service... Enjoyable experience in Rice Village. Established around 1980 by a very friendly Cuban gentleman. It's a good place for dinner near M D Anderson, a step up from fun Mexican.

Combination Cuban and Tex Mex, and they succeed at both. Their beef fajitas are my favorite in Houston. They seem to be cooked in a butter wine sauce, and the flavor is amazing! Great black beans, good fish dishes, and their salads are very good. They have a cilantro dressing that will knock your socks off. Service is inconsistant. Sometimes... More

My hu the sband and I landed here by happy accident on Valentine's night without reservations. They were pretty full but were able to accommodate us if we could be finished by 7:30 (it was 6:00). We had several tapas dishes and he had a margarita. Everything we tried was great. The ambiance was really nice -quiet and classy, and... More

Dined solo as I was on a business trip. Wait staff were excellent in suggesting the tapas based on what I told them I liked. Everything was fantastic - wine, tapas and dessert. Would definitely dine here again on future trips!

We had a very enjoyable lunch. I had the salmon and husband had grilled chicken. Very tasty. We each ordered $6.00 desserts. This is Texas! For that amount of money we were expecting a decent size piece of tres lechee cake and rice pudding. We got a small scoop of rice pudding and a 2x2 inch piece of cake. Both... More

I stopped in here for lunch with granddaughter and friends on a weekday. I should have suspected when it was 12:30 pm and the place was almost empty. Service was so bad we had to track down our waiter twice just to get what we ordered, and then to get the check (did I mention the place was almost empty?)... More
