Worth the wait to get a seat

The owner started with one rrestaurant on FM-1960 years ago. Then one in Katy and another one east side of town. My wife and I have been regulars to the first two places, both a 45 minute drive from our house. Most of the time, you have to wait to get seated. Trust me, it's worth the wait. What... read more

We found this place on trip advisor while in town for work and decided to give it a try. The place is really cute on the inside but the seating is kind of awkward. It was absolutely packed and by the time we left the line was out the door. My friend and I shared the seafood platter which included... More

Visiting my daughter, she took us there early right before they opened for lunch and I am glad, the gumbo soup was great, soon the crowd arrived, they were shucking the fresh oysters right in front of us, I ordered the fried oysters, they were tasty, a little on the small side, I ordered the shrimp large and tasty and... Where do I start. First, get there early...runs out of room very quickly. This will be fixed when they move down the road to the new bigger boat. Service is generally very quick and accurate. So to the chow....Gumbo: do it. Some of the best. Everything fried is cornmeal battered so oysters, shrimp, catfish good. Usually lots of people drinking... More

Still there after my 1st time over 12 years ago and it is still a great place to come back too. back in Houston working again and had to see if it was still there and Wow, still here, same place , just as crowded as always. Gumbo, fried crab, jalapeno shrimp and raw oysters and I'm done. Will start... More

As is mentioned in other reviews this is crowded and loud. It's also a confusing place to eat. There are just 2 counters- 1 along the outside of the room looking outside and the other around the action looking inward. You stand in line and hope bar stool seats open up together. If you sit along the outside you never... More

Captain toms is one of my favourite restaurants in Houston. Cheap fresh oysters, the best micheladas around and the gumbo is fantastic as well. I have never had a bad meal hear and have brought many friends that also love the place. It's a must to eat her when you are in Houston if you love seafood!

Made awkward exit off I-10 E, Houston. This place is right on I-10. Great accidental stop. Quick, friendly service with fresh oysters, great shrimp, catfish. Very reasonable prices. Place was packed with locals. Not fancy, just great local seafood. Unique structure and seating plan. Do not get this way often but would go out of my way to visit again.

Excellent seafood at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is as others have described it -- crowded, loud, a bit confusing when you first enter. It reminds one of a place on the waterfront in some small fishing village where everybody knows each other and is having a good time. Fresh oysters are as good as they come. The fried seafood plates... More
