Love the Food, Fun Atmosphere, on the Edge of Dirty

Love the food at Captain Tom's! Has to be some of the best low/average cost seafood in town! The shrimp, flounder and gumbo are to die for! It is very casual and loud and not a place where more than 2-3 people can easily talk given it's layout. The place is always packed so expect to wait and... read more

This place is real working man's establishment, shaped like a fishing boat with nothing fancy about it. The place was very full and open seats were loaded with dirty plates from prior diners. Inside there is a main horseshoe bar with single seats where the bartenders and oyster openers huddle and another seat of single seats around the outer perimeter... More

My husband and I have been eating at this facility for years and we LOVE it! The food is consistent and the gumbo is amazing! Fried jalapeños, jalapeño stuffed shrimp and catfish is to die for. I have never had the flounder special but it flies off the shelf when in season! Do yourself a favor, treat yourself to a... More

Different atmosphere than what you are used to. Most like a crowded lunch counter of the 50's NOT gourmet with fancy plates or beautiful displays of international cuisine, But just damn good good for a really good price. Order a dozen oysters and you will always get a plate full, even if it means that you get 15 for the... More

Expect to wait in line at lunch but the seats do turnover quickly. We shared a seafood platter and an order of hush puppies. All good and I look forward to going back.

Went there one evening and he demanded we go back for lunch the next day before he caught a flight home to Ohio. The food is about as fresh as you can get, the atmosphere is about as authentic as you can get.... More

This restaurant might be a little out of the ordinary. There are no real tables. Everyone eats as if in a bar. There are no menu's. There is a board on the wall and you pick from there. You dont have a set "server" you get the attention of the guys in the island and ask them for what you... More

After driving past this "boat" we decided to stop in. It was busy but we were able to grab two seats right away and spent a couple of minutes looking at the simple menu on the wall... We ordered a dozen oysters and dozen boiled shrimp...and some seafood gumbo to eat first. I am an iffy seafood gumbo eater...I don't... More

I am a big fan of this seafood and oyster bar and for many years have eaten there frequently, even though I must drive 45 minutes one way. Once before, the fried catfish had an awful taste, and they said they had gotten some bad fish from a different supplier. This time, a year and a half later, the fish... More
