In the summer of 1976, Henry "Hank" Zwirek and his buddy, Ed, both native Chicagoans, grew tired of living in the windy city and relocated to Houston. Hank realized the burgeoning city lacked high quality pizza and delivery service (which was a norm in Chicago). Acting on Hank's instincts, the two purchased a quaint two-story house on Norfolk and in October of 1976, a Star (pizza) was born.Business continued to thrive and Hank was eager to expand. In the summer of 1988 a second Star was born, affectionately named Star 2. The offspring of the original was located at 140 S. Heights Blvd. in the building that's now home to Chatter's.The original Star is still located in the house on Norfolk, and continues to offer the same homely atmosphere as it did in 1976. To this day the Zwirek family owns and operates both locations and thanks their loyal Star Pizzanites for their support throughout the years.

Great pizza

Always love Star Pizza. Arrived too late for the buffet. Ordering off the menu there were loads of great pizza options. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. Superb late lunch.

I will drive from energy corridor to get this pizza. Simply the best around town. I wish that they would open another location in the energy corridor or Katy area as I am sure it would be very profitable!

They have a good buffet for lunch which is why I end up here sometimes. It's close to work and easy to get to. The food is above average and reasonably priced.

Today we ordered a pizza for delivery as we have done for many years. Unfortunately, it is becoming a common occurrence that the delivery time is over one hour. The person taking the order should have been honest enough to say that the pizza was going to take over an hour to deliver. Then it would have been up to... More

Star pizza is my go to pizza joint since its close to the heights. This is the only pizza that doesn't hurt my tummy. The cheese is perfect & not too gooey & I love that they use fresh ingredients and make everything from scratch. I always order pepperoni, bell pepper & onion. You can't go wrong with an old... Ordered a cheese-sausage-mushroom-onion deep dish for delivery. Pizza arrived early, which is great, but it was nearly ice-cold and soggy in the middle. Very bland taste...added salt, pepper and dried garlic for a boost but still bland. We've eaten plenty of pizzas from Star, not sure why this was so terrible. It will be a long-long time before we order... More

Stopped in this pizza place with several family members. Friendly and attentive staff. Good prices and fairly good menu selection. Food was good and served hot.

The food here is great. So is the price! We had a deep dish pizza and it was very nice! Love the crust. It seems that when we go the servers are always cold and uncomfortable. I felt they just threw the drinks and food on the table and then the check. But pretty good place to eat and be... More

We visited Star Pizza on a Friday night and got there around 5 pm, so it was not crowded. The server was helpful with ordering but not particularly friendly. When we requested to be moved to a bigger table, as we were literally the only people on the entire side of the restaurant, she said the tables were generally reserved... More
