Established in 1976 In the summer of 1976, Henry "Hank" Zwirek and his buddy, Ed, both native Chicagoans, grew tired of living in the windy city and relocated to Houston. Hank realized the burgeoning city lacked high quality pizza and delivery service (which was a norm in Chicago). Acting on Hank's instincts, the two purchased a quaint two-story house on Norfolk and in October of 1976, a Star (pizza) was born.Business continued to thrive and Hank was eager to expand. In the summer of 1988 a second Star was born, affectionately named Star 2. The offspring of the original was located at 140 S. Heights Blvd. in the building that's now home to Chatter's.The original Star is still located in the house on Norfolk, and continues to offer the same homely atmosphere as it did in 1976. To this day the Zwirek family owns and operates both locations and thanks their loyal Star Pizzanites for their support throughout the years.

Awesome pizza!

We were seated quickly and sat upstairs. Service was a little slow, but it was worth the wait for the awesome pizza. A large pizza feeds a family of four with left overs. Delicious!

Order four pies for the office staff. Delivered promptly and hot. After that, it went downhill fast. Margarita had no basil and there was absolutely nothing on the pie that had any flavor at all. Vegetarian pizza was marginally better. Without the use of lots of crushed red pepper, there would have been nothing good to say about it. Even... More

Delicious pizza joint. Long wait for your food but that's because everything is done fresh. They actually have a sign on the table letting you know it will take a little longer.

Nothing fancy but certainly quirky with a lot of character. Patrons were locals and pizza was great! We left my daughter's sweater at the table and a staff member went out of his way to chase us down in the parking lot and get it to us...we were very grateful! Would definitely return!!!

We were taken here by a friend and it lived up to his billing. The pizza was great as evidenced by the fact that 3 of us finished a large. We were there on a Friday night and were glad we arrived when we did as they were quite busy, but still the service was good. If I return to... More

Very affordable lunch buffet. I was more than happy with the selections offered on the salad bar. Great laid-back spot for a diverse pizza lunch buffet.

There is nothing Chicago style about there pizza. Past that the pizza is great, crust is nothing special but the toppings are fresh and plenty to go around. Started with garlic bread. 6 large pieces with a side of marinara. Followed with Cesar salad which had a nice fresh garlic bite to it. Main dish was an all meat pizza... More

On a college visit, we almost drove to the 'burbs for a pizza, but ran across a review that recommended Star as a better option - and much closer to where we were. Couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! The large, deep dish Ben's was excellent! Ambiance was cool in and old house. Highly recommended in Houston!

I brought my 15 year old daughter, five friends and here 2 sisters here to celebrate her birthday and we loved it. There is a wide selection of pizzas, pasta and salads. The Chicken Alfredo pizza is to die for! Prices were more than reasonable--there were 8 of us and our check was less than $100 and we took 3... More

We ordered our pizza, but they would not deliver to our motel which was only three miles away. We drove to pick up pizza. Restaurant was very busy. Style very eclectic. Waited in line a few minutes for our order. Pizza was good. Lots of cheese with meat. Crust was good. Probably not the best pizza I have ever eaten,... More
