Description: Established in 1976 In the summer of 1976, Henry "Hank" Zwirek and his buddy, Ed, both native Chicagoans, grew tired of living in the windy city and relocated to Houston. Hank realized the burgeoning city lacked high quality pizza and delivery service (which was a norm in Chicago). Acting on Hank's instincts, the two purchased a quaint two-story house on Norfolk and in October of 1976, a Star (pizza) was born.Business continued to thrive and Hank was eager to expand. In the summer of 1988 a second Star was born, affectionately named Star 2. The offspring of the original was located at 140 S. Heights Blvd. in the building that's now home to Chatter's.The original Star is still located in the house on Norfolk, and continues to offer the same homely atmosphere as it did in 1976. To this day the Zwirek family owns and operates both locations and thanks their loyal Star Pizzanites for their support throughout the years.

Being from Chicago, I found it extremely hard to find good pizza in Houston. After lowering my standards and finding dominos to be the beat pizza in town, I finally found Star pizza. Best pizza in town by far Star puts out a great pizza for a good deal.

This place has always been my favorite pizza joints in Houston! Love the food selection and the service. Even the leftovers taste great. A must try for all pizza lovers!

A little far from the house in Sugar Land but always worth the drive. It is my wife's favorite so it is always good for me when I pull out the Star Pizza card. It has an eclectic crowd and pizza menu. The Starburst and Marilyn's are our favorite. If you like your crust a little crisp just ask them... More

If you've ever attended a convention in Houston, you probably realize that the "downtown" area that surrounds the convention center doesn't exactly provide a ton of options for "dinner for one" take-out/delivery options in the evening. Star Pizza 2 will deliver to the Convention Center hotels, and the pizza was fantastic. Deep Dish "Starburst" pizza on white dough - the... More

My husband and I met some friends here before leaving town and we were very impressed. He and I split the Starburst Pizza and a Cesar salad. The salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing tasted homemade. The pizza was amazing one of the best I have had. The service was fast and friendly! I definitely recommend ordering a... More

My family and I went here because of the good reviews I saw on TA. It didn't disappoint. The Salsa Verde pizza was amazing, our server recommended us to add bacon on it and it was delicious. The Starburst pizza was ok, we preferred the Salsa Verde. The BEST portion of our meal was the Greek Salad by far! Absolutely... More

Who would have thought Texas would house some of the best pizza I have ever had! Star Pizza is seriously the best. Typically I am a fan of a good thin NY style pizza but this place really has the best Chicago style pizza I have had and I have been to Chicago. Good cheese and good crust which is... More

Do yourself a favor and get yourself to Star Pizza in Houston, Texas. Your taste buds will thank you. Their dough is heavenly. I've had the New York style and it is great but the deep dish Chicago is my favorite. My husband and I drive from Cypress, Texas at least twice a month to have their deep dish "Ben's"... More

I travel to Houston quite a bit, and I'm always on the lookout for a decent pizza joint. I have found one-- unfortunately this is not it! The dough was kind of soggy and flavorless, the sauce was slightly sweet and watery. Not the worst I've had in H- Town (not known for pizza is an understatement). Probably a good... More
